Worked great. Exactly what I needed! Not an easy tool to find. Make sure and review directions.

  2. Melissa Louise Post

Worked perfectly, came in perfect condition. Saved me from buying much more expensive kits.

  3. KW

    Works as promised

Bought this for a camshaft replacement on a 2018 Equinox 1.5l turbo, made the job much easier as I didn’t have to pull the timing chain or cover off. The only issue I had with the tool was the cam holder plate was too small, I had to grind the two holes out a little wider. Otherwise worked very well, great tool for the price.

Failed on first use, threads on screws were damaged beyond fixing, even with a tap and dye. The slide keeps sticking and not allowing for proper movement, choose another product

The tool itself worked great, when we received the box from amazon one of the clips to hold the tool case shut was missing, the box itself was delivered in was not damaged, and the piece was not inside. Would like to know how to get a latch for the tool case to help hold the tool together and not loose parts from the case.

My husband was pleased with the product

You need this tool to change the camshaft OR phaser of either the intake or exhaust side, without having to remove the timing cover. This saves so much work! Engine mount, alternator, harmonic balancer, drive belt – it all stays put. This kit has two clamps and a go-nogo metal plate that works with this engine. If the plate fits over the cam at #1 TDC, its in time.

The first clamp goes on the intake chain. Then slightly torque the intake cam towards the windshield and have another flip the service lever of the timing tensioner (through service port/plug on timing cover) down(rotate ccw). It will click DOWN, hold it down. Crank the intake cam towards the front of the car and you will gain slack as you do, you need enough where the chain can slop side to side at least an inch in the middle (with the top timing guide removed) – do not go so far as the chain binds. Install the exhaust lock. Do your work. If you are changing the exhaust cam (as I did):

Pull the phaser bolt (you need a new one)
    Pull the caps
Hold the phaser and chain together, tip and slide out the old cam – slide the new one in. The cam will be slightly tipped up to the right until it is torqued down slowly and in sequence.

Pull the clamps, pull the pin. turn the motor via crank. Check timing go-nogo plate and #1 TDC mark on balancer and arrow on cover.
