My BMW E39 M52 continues to throw “Crankshaft position sensor error” after installation.
Total waste of time(shipping) and money. Get the BMW OEM Crankshaft position sensor.

I had computer error showing before that this sensor is not working properly and now everything is working fine…

This is a camshaft position sensor not a crankshaft position sensor

I think you should explain a lil bit better for which model this fits. It’s a waste of money.

I am attempting to convert an M50 to OBDII (MS41 ECU with M52 harness). I already had a harness and most of the sensors and I would rather have the flexibility of the Siemens over the old Bosch ECU. The M50 sensors are becoming hard to find and are fairly expensive as well. This was pretty much the only sensor that was a bit questionable as there isn’t a whole lot of info out there. The M50 uses a front crank position vs rear mount on the M52. The two sensors are completely different shape so I had to find something that would fit on the front of the M50.
This sensor worked absolutely perfect. It bolts on the front of the timing cover and it is the exact length (depth) needed to get the pulses from the teeth on the dampener. Even the cable is the correct length and plug for the M52 harness. All I had to do is find a good routing so it doesn’t touch the belt. The engine fired right up and idles great. I haven’t finished the conversion yet so I haven’t driven it but it looks promising.
I will update when I have the car complete and verify functionality through the rev-range.
