The pleats on this filter are nearly twice as long as the motorcraft one for my f150. Too soon to tell if it has made any actual tanglible difference, not expecting much, but at a comparable cost to the motorcraft one this is a no brainer when considering the results from the projectfarm testing vid on Youtube.

Filter media is quite a bit deeper than original but clears everything & probably gives better filtration or airflow with more surface area. A little bit tighter to secure the top back on but does fit.

Here’s the skinny.
I’ve done quite a bit of research on this filter. I used to use an original Ford filter, as the testing showed they are very well made and do the job. After viewing several independent air filter reviews, I found that the WIX air filter out performs all others in several categories. With this information, I decided to search out the correct one for my F150.
I found this (49883) on Amazon but it said it didn’t fit my truck. After further research, I found that this part # was indeed the correct one for my truck. I cross referenced the part # several times to be sure and finally ordered it.
When it came, I found that it was indeed the correct size, but twice as thick. It fit perfectly in the air box, but the gasket was a tiny bit thicker than the factory one. I didn’t find this to be an issue as the cover went on fine but a little snugger than before. Note that the gasket does compress and makes a perfect seal. The fact that the filter media is twice as thick as the factory one, suggests it will do a better job, last longer and provide plenty of CFM flow. The kicker is, that it’s cheaper that the Ford filter!
All that said, I would highly recommend this filter for anyone with a 5.0 F150 as it is an improvement and more affordable.

The Wix filter is thicker than the filter (Fram, I think) it replaced. It fit into the airbox of my 2018 Ford F150 with the 5.0L V8 engine without any problem. The Wix filter is on the left in this photo.

I just bought a brand new pick up truck, and I wanted a really good air filter. I used K&N for years, but read many articles, and saw many tests that show K&N filters allow even large dirt particles to pass through and get into your motor. That is why I looked for another brand. I saw side by side tests on many different air filters, and read all kinds of articles as well.
At the top of all of these tests, WIX was always the best, or one of the best. I want to protect my new investment, and have it last as long as possible. Having large dirt particles enter my engine is not the way to do that. Do the research yourself, and you will find out what I am talking about,
WIX is now my filter of choice for protecting my engine for a long life and top performance. These are competitively priced and are a good value. I feel confident that my engine is getting the best filtration I can get. I give WIX filters 5 stars.

Bought this after watching an air filter video on YouTube from ProjectFarm. This seemed to be the best at air flow and keeping extra stuff out of your engine.
