I ordered and returned two of these fuel filters because what looked like mold was on the metal surface and the plastic bag. The second one was not as bad but enough was present to return. I called WIX and talked to them about this and they said it depended on how the seller was storing these. My biggest concern was if there is mold on the inside? Anyway, not worth saving a few dollars for something suspect.

I ordered this “Wix” gas filter for my 2002 sable. Anyone that’s ever bought a Wix filter knows that Wix proudly puts their name on all of their filters. So I’m thinking $12 .00 for a quality Wix filter is money well spent. So I was surprised and thoroughly pissed off when I finally got my filter and it’s in a Micro gard box and no where on the filter do I see Wix so basically I paid 12 bucks for a 4 or 5 dollar generic filter. You guessed it I have already started the return. I will get what I want at my local parts store .

I’ve been in and around classic cars most of my life. I have searched and used filters that say they are best but truth be known they were not. My top #1 choice is Amsoil products and when they bought WIX filters it was clean they were the closest competitor to Amsoil. I use both. Now they Amazon sells WiX filter cheaper than the local parts store I order a few and put them on the self.

I bought this filter for my Ford Ranger as I had bought it used and did not know when the last time it was changed out. Improve your MPG by replacing your filter today! I think for the price and the quality of the product I would purchase other related products from this company. Thanks!
Honest Opinion –
My car has had a bit of a rough idle and a very slight hesitation on acceleration. While I’ve believed that all filters are the same, on the advice of someone I trust I bought this Wix filter. I’ve been told that Wix filters are of the highest quality. Wix also makes filters for NAPA auto stores.
First thing I noticed is this is a little longer than the FRAM filter it is replacing. This is, of course, a good thing since it means this has more filtering area. It is also heavier in the hand, a nice satisfying weight compared to a new FRAM filter. This filter came with the proper clips, shown in the Amazon picture above.
After installing and letting gas flow through the lines, I immediately noticed a nice, smooth idle with better throttle response. I’m sold on these Wix filters. I give it my highest approval!

Wix fuel filters are rated as the best filters you can buy, which lead me to purchase this item. Fitment was proper, however, the included clips were of universal type. I would recommend purchasing fuel line clips specific to your make and model vehicle.
