I have an older 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and wanted to find a way to listen to music on my phone while driving. The carsyncpro Wireless Carplay Adapter seemed like the perfect solution since it’s small (size of a thumb drive) and doesn’t require any wires. The adapter also includes a Type-C adapter and USB extension cable.
The adapter was easy to connect to my iPhone 13 with Bluetooth. I now am able to play music from my phone. Unfortunately, I discovered that my old Chevrolet does not support CarPlay so it won’t show my apps (including navigation). Although it doesn’t provide all the features for my old car, it allows me to play my music from my iPhone which makes me happy.

If you have a vehicle with wired Carplay, or have envied other cars with wireless connections, this might be the perfect upgrade for you. Now that I have it working, I am very happy with this device.
I selected this model because of the ability to plug the dongle directly into a USB port vs many models which include a short attached wire. However, I did have some confusion trying to figure out why it did not work on the first attempt. Turns out the USB port in our vehicle has a bit of concave/indentation which caused the Carsyncpro to not seat properly. So I am very grateful that a short USB to USB extension adapter was included in the box because after giving it a go again today, using the extension adapter, everything worked as expected. Yay!

I like the small package that this device fits in and that it doesn’t take up a lot of room. I can take this with me when traveling abroad and renting a car. I use an iOS phone and my wife has an Android so we should both be covered. According to the instructions there are requirements for the vehicle and the phones for this to work. Look at the photos for the Compatability Note to verify that you have the right versions of Android and iOS for this to work. First off, your vehicle needs to have wired CarPlay functional as well as an iPhone or Android Auto for your compatible phone. You can then use connection method 1 (see photo of page) to simply connect your phone using the USB-C cable connected from your phone to the car. If your car is listed on the product webpage (see the box in photo for method 2) then you can use the system wirelessly. It shouldn’t take more than 5 to 10 minutes to get set up. I was going to use this on my Lincoln MKZ when I ordered this device, but then I landed up trading my car in for a 2024 Ford F-150 truck that already had wireless car play. That said, I’ll probably just hold onto this device and use it when renting a car when traveling.

This fits in the USB port in the little cubby in the front of my 2020 Accord, and I can close the door/flap without it hitting it. I don’t have to open it or bother with the wire for Apple CarPlay. I leave it plugged in because that USB plug is switched and only has power when the ignition is on, so I don’t have to worry about it draining my battery. By the time I’ve buckled up and backed out of the driveway the device is connected to my iPhone and the Apple CarPlay option is available to choose from the screen. It even reconnects automatically if I turned off the car and it was the last option I used. It has not dropped the signal once. It was easy enough to install on my phone. I’m glad I got it because it really works like an integrated wireless CarPlay setup and not something that is a unreliable afterthought, like another one that I had tried before this one. I’m glad I replaced my old device with this newer more reliable device.

2020 Honda Pilot with an iPhone 16 pro, works great. Plug it into your CarPlay usb, connect via Bluetooth then setup CarPlay as you normally would. If you’ve know the struggle of getting into your car and having it connect via Bluetooth then needing to plug in a cable to use CarPlay then this is for you. Doesn’t sound like a pain, well, you’re here looking. Sometimes you don’t want to have to take your phone out of your pocket or a purse and with this you won’t have to. Just get in your car and it connects just like native ota CarPlay. I occasionally do notice a lag or hesitation when going through the menu while streaming music and using google maps; however, I encounter that on my other car and truck that both do native ota CarPlay also. So that is by no means a deal breaker and I can’t really knock it for something I have happen on native systems when I don’t know if it is the car itself or bandwidth of the device. Either way the added benefit of full wireless is very nice. Comes as a thumb drive style so it doesn’t take up a lot of space, also included is an extension cable just in case you do need to locate it differently. Has a light to let you know the device is on but is dim enough to not be distracting or blinding at night. There may be better units out there but this does the job and didn’t disappoint.

I was pretty impressed with this device. It worked well in my 2019 VW, connecting relatively quickly after startup. Audio latency is generally good (and adjustable using the web UI!) compared to other wireless CarPlay units I have used. Super easy to pair. I also liked how it gave the option of using the little USB extension cord or plugging directly into the USB port. Makes for a clean install.
However, there were some downsides:
1. Occasionally the head unit would remain on even after the ignition had been shut off and I got out of the car. This never happened with wired CarPlay.
2. Touch latency is just OK. Wired CarPlay was noticeably faster to use and had fewer laggy spikes.
3. I guess the USB port powers on when unlocking the car, so that connects the phone even if you haven’t turned on the ignition. This is bad if you are on a conference call and trying to speak or listen and your call transfers to the CarPlay before getting in the car unexpectedly.
Overall, excellent value, and some of the downsides could just be wireless CarPlay in general and not specific to this device. For someone that is OK with some of the inherent cons of a wireless connection, this device will probably be of good use to you. Personally, I’m going back to my wired connection.
