Some of thee are 50-60.00 or more. This is currently 31.99 and works just as well.
If you are unfamiliar with what exactly this does, let me explain the use case. You have a car that has a stereo that does WIRED Android Auto or Apple Carplay, which sucks. This device aims to solve that problem by making the connection WIRELESS, which is cool. It does just that. You plug it into the USB port you previously had to connect your phone. You then pair with this device instead of your car stereo. This device then fools your stereo into thinking you are connected via a wire and boom, you are in business.
After initial pairing, this has worked quickly and reliably every time since.
Add a magsafe style charger and you can be completely wireless in your vehicle.

This wireless CarPlay/Android Auto adapter is a solid upgrade for your car. It’s really easy to set up – just plug and play, and you’re good to go. The connection is stable, and I haven’t noticed any major lag, which is great for using navigation or making calls. It cleans up the dashboard by getting rid of those annoying cables. If your car is compatible, this adapter makes using CarPlay or Android Auto a much smoother experience.

This is a difficult item to review due to known software bugs with Android Auto . Your experience will likely be better than mine. There is a known software bug with Android Auto with wireless adapters such as this one, where the audio can sound normal and intermittently sound choppy, like somebody turning the volume up and down 10 times per second. I’ve tried multiple wireless adapters on both of my vehicles with similar results, however, this adapter seems to work the best overall. I believe that I isolated my choppy audio problem to having two active phone carriers assigned to my phone (Verizon and T-Mobile) simultaneously because I removed one of my SIM cards and the audio seems to be working flawlessly now.
I have owned several of these wireless adapters and my advice to you is to avoid one with a cord. Cords seem to be a major cause of problems according to most reviews I’ve read, so go with this style that plugs directly to your vehicle.
The biggest problem I’ve had with this item is that my screen froze during the boot-up process once. (see attached photo). This is why I am removing one star from my review. I am not blaming this company for Android Auto’s software faults because I have experienced the same issue with competitor products on multiple vehicles. Hopefully the software developers will figure out what’s going wrong because Android Auto is great when it works properly.

I plugged it in as soon as I got into the car. The little green light flickered, then held steady. My phone recognized it right away. At first, everything seemed fine. The screen mirrored my phone, the icons were where they should be, and I tapped on my music app. The song started playing without a hitch. I thought, “Alright, this might actually work.”
But then, the glitches started. The audio would randomly cut out for a second or two. The maps app froze twice while I was trying to follow directions. I disconnected and reconnected it, hoping that would help. It didn’t.
The biggest issue came when I tried making a call. The delay between my voice and the person on the other end was unbearable. I ended up switching back to my wired connection. The convenience was tempting, but the inconsistency made it unusable.
Not as Reliable as I Hoped
It started off promising. The setup was quick, and my phone connected easily. Music played without a problem at first. But as I used it, the signal kept dropping, and navigation would freeze. Calls were the worst part—the lag was frustrating. I tried reconnecting, but it didn’t fix much. It felt unreliable, so I went back to using the wired connection.

Using it for wireless Android Auto, works perfectly and is a fraction of the price and size of others. Recommend

I bought my daughter a new car, and even though it is a 2024, for some reason it only has wired Android auto. I decided to remedy that with this cheap dongle. Once it was set up it works just as well as the built-in Android auto in my other car. The dongle is small and blends perfectly into the cars black interior so that it doesn’t look like it is a add-on item like some of the dongles I’ve seen.
As for setup, the directions were printedin extremely small text, but once I put on my reading glasses and squinted they were clear enough to decipher. Basically you plug it in and wait for it to charge up enough to work. Then you simply pair your device with the Bluetooth on the dongle. Then your phone will show up on Android auto just as if it was a normal wireless Android auto. There was one problem in that the direction said to pair with the device called wireless_dongle.xxx, but the device was actually called smartbox… I do hate when directions are not accurate. It makes the device look like what it is, a cheap knockoff electronic from a company that just license the product and stuck their name on it. But since it’s cheap and it works and it wasn’t that hard to figure out I can overlook it.

This did not work in my 2020 Canyon and I had to return it,

I’ve had a few of these for my cat and have to say this is by far the best. Unlike the one with the dongle, this one connects right away without multiple attempts and phone notifications. Dongle free means more room under my infotainment system. Easy Bluetooth pairing,…
