The black plastic piece on the bottom broke off as soon as i out it on the battery and barely tightened it, but its not really needed. Other than that, it works just fine and makes good contact with the terminal. Id buy again, if needed.

The entire bottom half of the battery connector had corroded away and I needed a replacement. This item was an identical fit with an 8mm nut and a post that fit the 10mm nut on my truck. Previously, after installing a new battery, I had purchased a generic battery terminal connector from my local auto parts store, only to find out that the cables did not fit on the SAE post. No problems with this item, the cables fit perfectly. Remember to clean pre-existing cables with a wire brush before installing. On my first install of this product, the starter motor cable was so corroded that even though windows and lights would operate, the truck wouldn’t start. A quick clean with some automotive cleaner and a wire brush fixed the problem and truck started right up. People who say this product didn’t make good contact probably didn’t clean the rest of the pre-existing equipment.
I can’t say what metal this part is, it looks suspiciously like aluminum, I do wish it was copper like the original OEM, but overall I’m happy with the install.

I was pleased with the heavy gauge steel this part was make from. It should withstand the acid corrosion this battery connectors are subject to.
