This pump does not fit the cummins 5500 generator. The mounts are too far back on the pump and are over an inch off from the factory pump.

My back-up generator used a vacuum pump to take fuel from the tank and get it to the carburetor, which worked well for many years. However, over the last few years, the gen has been increasingly difficult to crank up, and I found it was because the carb was not getting gas in a timely manner. After a few quick mounting modifications and a good voltage source from the generator battery, I replaced that vacuum setup for this electric one. It was like night and day! As soon as I turn the generator’s key on, the Weideer E11015 Electrical Fuel Pump pumps fuel right to the carb and the gen cranks right up. Worked perfect, and has a very low current draw also. Great buy and good diy equipment! Love it. Here’s some important specs that may be useful:

Generator fired right up and stopped about an hour later. The hot wire has power to it. Tapped on it but couldn’t get it to operate.
