Product does exactly what it was supposed to do, hold up the muffler. If you are like me, you’ve had to replace this part on your Chevy Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire multiple times due to rusting. This product is a direct fit for the stock unit. This time, before putting on the car, I sprayed it with a few coats of Rustoleum to hopefully prevent it from rusting out again so fast. Perfect product, and good price here on Amazon!

Looks a little different than the oem item but fits well. I used a sawsall to cut the old hanger just before the knob rather than try to work it back through the rubber. Had to take the tire off to do this.

This review degenerates into a venting rant towards the end. Apologies ahead of time. Walker 36360 muffler strap for Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire. Ordered mine on March 8, 2012. Installed on March 11, 2012. Broke on top today, September 08, 2014. So about one year six months on the dot. 1998 Chevy Cavalier that is barely washed during NJ winters to be fair. Yes we LOVE salt and salt substitutes – all corrosive. I sanded it and painted it with two coats of Rustoleum High Temp paint prior to installation. No matter. Sand, gravel, and garbage collects on top of the perfectly level muffler. Then everything rubs together with moisture/salt sitting on top. Worst part is I paid $20+ for it back then. Not worth more than $16. Very useful and a perfect fit, but cheap steel.
Poor girl with car had to rig it up with a USB cable until I put another one on tomorrow. I offered to wire it up with stainless, but she is not at home. Oh well. These should cost a little more and be at least T-409 grade stainless, but that would be the end of the money train for these steel processing companies. T-409 is actually classified as indoor grade stainless, but cheap a$%clown companies always use it on mufflers and such because they think everyone is a sucker and starts drooling when they hear “stainless steel”. Stainless has different grades you know. I can never recommend mild steel or T-409 stainless for ANY car components. T-304 is the real deal. Everything else is waste of time and money. However, T-409 would still be superior to mild steel. Chrysler used to make full systems with 409 back in the day (304 at the end of muffler). Majority of car companies today use it on catalytic converters and downpipes. If I had a welder I would weld a hanger to some T-304 from McMaster Carr with a stainless bolt. This garbage GM design makes me so angry. Cars everywhere with mufflers dangling causing failure of the crusty, rusty flanges near the catalyst. Half of the exhaust system ends up levering on the center hanger if it still exists. Don’t know what is worse – this strap, their brake lines, or their fuel lines. OK. The brake lines, then fuel lines, then this strap in that order. Why not fuel line first? While stupid to have a crusty, rusty fuel line it would take a direct hit or someone messing with it to make it burst since it is less than 70psi of pressure. Brake lines can hit 900psi. Don’t ask how I know. Same car again. Love the swiss cheese k-member/front subframe and the hole in the rear subframe connectors (I can reach through with my girly arms to the front hole) and top of the fuel filler piper. EVAP leak? Hmm could be this rust hole in the top of the fuel filler that I can put two fingers into. (Replaced with $25 u-pull-it part) Thank you GM and thank you Walker. I do really like post-2008 GM vehicles however. Cruize, Sonic, Impala, Colorado trucks (upcoming diesel is beast), fullsize trucks. No qualms or worries. The girl will purchase a different newer car in less than a year, but it will not be a GM. Even though the 2.2L four cylinder engine with timing chain and 8 Over Head Valves will last forever. Wonder why? Where does this widespread bad reputation come from? Paint, epoxy, plating, powder coating, T304? What is that for? Hmm. I have beef with Nissan using garbage zinc-cadmium plating too. Really? Did they think engines would never see water droplets or salt at any point in time? Stupid but good for mass production. Dip, hold, rinse, and go.

Half the price for what you pay in the auto parts store. Only one thing they last only about 2 years before metal band rusts and breaks apart. Otherwise a good replacement part!

Strap seems to be the Same as OEM muffler strap, but the muffler that was shipped was smaller than the OEM muffler I was replacing on my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Muffler # Walker 18150 this strap is too big for. I will have to modify somehow to get it to work correctly.

Arrived fast and was quick and easy to install! Would have been easier with a new rubber mount and bracket, but you can use the old one just as well.
