I got some of these at one of those well known auto-parts stores before and liked them. Nice to see them available on amazon as well. The mitts work perfectly and are well made for the price, they’re not quite as absorbent or soft as the thicker style or some of the more expensive brands though. As long as you shake them out well in your wash bucket and use a grit guard and don’t use them in the event they fall on the ground you shouldn’t have to worry about scratching anything. Some people don’t like to use mitts at all, and opt for small microfiber towels or slotted sponges, so it’s not a “must-have” product for everyone, but personally I like using mitts as they just save time since they stay flat and you can easily flip them over, and there’s less chance of dropping or getting any finger fatigue. Viking generally makes good and affordable detailing / wash supplies, and these mitts are no different. The two pack at $7/ea is a great value.

I recently reviewed VIKING’s Premium Chenile Microfiber wash mitts and they quickly became my new favorite. These are VIKING’s Premium Microfiber mitts and, while different, they’re also quite good.
The two types of mitts are constructed differently. These premium microfiber mitts have a spongy foam core beneath the microfiber layer and tend to lay more flat while in use giving a large surface area for scrubbing. The spongy core picks up and holds a lot of soapy water. The chenille style mitts don’t have that foam core so the suds are almost all held in the big chenille noodles.
I found these microfiber mitts are great for wiping down large areas that are fairly flat and where you might need to do a bit of scrubbing. The long pile is able to reach into crevices around badges and name plates to get those areas clean. The chenille mitts seem to be better for washing curvy areas with indentations where the noodles can conform to the shape being cleaned.
Both of VIKING’s wash mitts work well and while I never really gave wash mitt design that much thought before, I now have two types of tool available to get my car wash jobs done quickly and easily with good results.

These Viking mitts are great. I just washed the car using the mitt.
The micro fibers hold soapy water well so that you get a lot on the car. The length of the fibers allows the material to reach in deep around the nooks and crannies of the sheet metal and into the crevices where steel meets trim. I also used the mitt to clean up the wheel hubs and Weather Tech mats. Everything looks great!
The mitts clean up nicely. Using the jet mode on the nozzle, I spritzed the mitts periodically to knock accumulated dirt off of the mitt. The dirt seemed to fall right off instead of clinging to the fibers.
The only downside to the mitts is that they don’t have an interior glove or grip that you can hang onto as you swish the dirt away, so the mitt flips over randomly as you move over the car’s surface. This can be a bit annoying if your plan was to use ‘this side’, then ‘that side’, then ‘clean mitt’ – you end up rinsing dirt more often as you lose track of which side is which.
All in all though, nice mitts!

First of all, I’ve always used a towel when washing my car. This is my first time using “Wash Mitt Technology”, and for me it worked sooooo much better than a towel, I cleaned my whole car exterior
in less than 10 minutes with just one mitt.
If it wasn’t January and cold and I didn’t want to get wet, I would’ve used both mitts
I received and zoomed through the wash.
So if you’ve never had a mitt, get a mitt.
For the price, currently 5.99 each, or 2 for the bargain price of 8.99, get this mitt.
It’s a no-brainer over a towel, especially since after you’re done you usually have to machine wash a towel, and they never clean up quite the right way again. These mitts you just rinse off in the sink, then put aside to dry. (Don’t put in dryer, and certainly never bleach them, they’d probably disintegrate)
The interior of this 10×8 mitt is bigger than your hand so you don’t have real finger control, but you’re not dropping it or having to readjust it all the time like with a towel, and it’s just flexible enough that you can press your fingers to apply a little extra pressure where needed, like on dried bird-doo, etc. It retains soap much better than a towel too.
I wore vinyl gloves underneath when using as the soap/water soaks through. I found it easier to
keep dry using a mitt too, as a towel tends to flit around, etc.
Only one or two small fibers came off out of the package, but I shook and pulled at both mitts and no more came out. I didn’t notice any come off with the initial wash. The glove dried in about a day and is like new.
The pile is deep enough that I’m confident I’ll get several year’s worth of service from these at a minimum,
washing the car once a month.
I’m sure there are more expensive mitts out there that might fit a little better, and perhaps have a different material that auto-detailer-types might prefer, but for my non-Tesla, non-Ferrari yet still precious little Subaru these are all I needed, and I’m delighted!
