bulletproof, does exactly what it’s supposed to do. bluetooth has good range. this is my first Victron purchase and it won’t be my last.

This is just another great quality Victron product, it is fully programmable via the phone app using Bluetooth. I needed it to fully charge some Kilovault batteries that have a specific charging specification, worked perfectly. This can also be used as a 12 volt power supply, very handy.

I really like this charger. It is fully configurable and it is easy to monitor what’s going on and view charge history on your phone or computer using Bluetooth. I have it permanently mounted in my camper van and use it when solar is not producing sufficient output. It charges my 200 ah LIFEPO4 battery very predictably and then goes into maintenance mode keeping the battery full but providing output for power consumers such as the fridge.
The charger does not have a fan which I suppose would prevent IP67 certification. So, that’s nice but it also does run very hot when actively charging. I have mounted it in a well ventilated spot yet it gets hot to the touch. It’s not a real problem to me if it does not affect longevity. Nonetheless, I may just end up mounting an external fan to cool the unit when powered.

I was excited when I set the charger up. It charged my batteries nicely. A few days later everything changed and now I’m very disappointed with this charger. I’ve tried everything I could find to try online with no results. Gets to 93% completed and fails. The main suggestion was to use an I-phone to run the firmware update but since I’m an android user I was not able to try that I think I’m still within the return window so I’ll be doing that soon.
Update: I paid someone with an iPhone to install the app and the update went perfectly. Updates should not be manditory if they are not going to work on the devices specified. So, that said I got stupid and bought a third charger so that all the chargers on my boat matched. Installed it today and had the exact same results. Gets to 93% and fails. The device no longer charges batteries and will not let you proceed beyond this point. They have extensive trouble shooting guides as to how to correct the problem but not one of them works. They already have their money so they don’t care. Now I have to find another iPhone user willing to install their app and update this last charger. I highly recommend that you do not buy this product. They have zero tech support.

Due to excessive rain, the small solar system wasn’t able to provide enough electricity for the boat bilge pump. This charger works well for the new LiFePo4 battery. Connects to I-Phone 15 easily when on.

Using this to mainly charge my LFP batteries, and it does seem to be programmed well for that, although the absorption charge time seems to be a bit long IMO.
This unit does have a couple drawbacks.
1. Because it’s a fully potted unit, none of the leads can be replaced, and the battery leads in particular do not have very good strain relief. If the charger is permanently mounted, it will probably be ok.
2. The 12ga leads are barely adequate for 17 amps. They do get pretty warm, especially around the fuse holder area. 10ga ultra flexible cord would have been better.
3. The unit itself gets too hot to touch when charging a 100Ah battery. Which probably is topping the maximum this charger can handle.
My advise for this unit is put in an enclosure with a computer fan connected to the output. (or a 120v fan connected to input) Just setting a very low RPM computer fan on top of it kept it only warm to the touch, so you wouldn’t need much. And I’d cut the battery leads off and connect it to a mountable XT60 connector, using 10ga marine grade wire (highly recommend Ancor) going out from the box.

I bought this not even 2 years ago it worked well for 2 years then it did a firmware update again which it did from time to time but now immediately after the firmware update it just trips the breaker over and over there’s nothing I can do to make it stop soon as I plug it in trips the breaker can’t get a hold of anybody to help me and when you call Victron energy in Texas you can’t get ahold of anyone…
