Not as good as the permatex or loctite 518 i even used primer activator not sure if i got a bad tube but this stuf didnt work.for me. I used on a few machined flanges and a cast iron gear box neither would seal up. I touuk back apart after 2 week and the sealant was still wet in spots

I used the VITE 730 to reassemble a high-pressure water pump. It is working perfectly! The factory replacement gaskets for one pump costs more than the tube. I can rebuild a dozen pumps with one tube. One suggestion, let the assembled pump to sit for a day to make sure the gasket “sets up” properly and do not use it for “O ring replacement.

Update (11/7/19): One year into the job and it’s holding tight. One thing I was sure to do before I put on the sealant was clean the surfaces well. I sanded them with fine sandpaper (about 300 grit) and cleaned them with denatured alcohol. Getting all the oil and old sealer off was key. I also used Vibra-TITE 611 primer. Don’t know if it helped, but it didn’t hurt. The 2oz. bottle (Part Number 61102) was more than enough for this tube. I also bought a Valco Tube Grip (Valco Cincinnati 71416) that made squeezing a consistent bead much easier on my hands. It’s worth the extra $25 when doing a medium to large job with tube sealant, and it keeps the tube from splitting.

    Original review:
So far so good. My transfer case is holding fluid. I did have some trouble with the packaging. The flat end of the tube split open, so I used a radiator hose clamp and a used nitrile glove to clamp it shut. This was actually a good thing because then I could bend the clamp instead of squeezing with my (cramping, tired) fingers. I may use this technique even if the tube doesn’t split.

The other part of the problem was with the applicator tip. If you just cut it off the hole will be way too big. I used a 1/16″ drill bit and drilled a hole in the very end. This allowed for a much smaller, more controllable bead.

If you’re redoing the transfer case on an older GM 4×4 this is the stuff you want. I’ve been very pleased so far. If you take your time to clean the surfaces well before you apply the sealer you will have much better results. I used a Scotch Brite pad and brake cleaner to make sure the surface didn’t have any old sealant or oxidation. It was totally worth the extra time and effort. Just be sure to wait a full day before filling with fluid.
