Started installing these on ATV’s, they are so convenient for a multitude of different things and pretty easy to install. Also the power drain from the “always on” led seems to be minimal, which was a concern.

This product has been amazing! I bought it to install in our older cars. I put mine in the center console where the arm rest is. I used a small handheld pvc cutter to widen the hole that was already there for a single unit. I used a drill to make the screw holes so the plastic wouldn’t crack. After connecting the electric unit I tested it and it was amazing! Now I don’t need to worry about having enough chargers. It also has a seriously convenient power button so I can choose the let something charge while the car is off or turn it off to prevent battery leeching. My center electric is connected directly to the battery so this works for me. Most vehicles don’t have this option.

I installed this upgraded 2021 duel port 12V cigarette port / double USB in the rear of my dad’s Dodge Mega Cab Ram truck before a recent family trip to Florida. I ran the wiring in 10 gauge stranded copper directly from the battery and a fuse holder, into the cabin and to the back of the truck cab before making the connection with the supplied wiring harness using all soldered connections and shrink wrap. This accessory port handled the amp load of my mom’s portable oxygen generator as well as simultaneously charging cell phones and tablets without missing a beat or getting hot. Those that run wiring that is too small, long distances and with heavy amp load will experience problems with heat and/or failure. Resistance heating is caused from using undersized wiring from your power source. Size your conductor wiring accordingly. So far, this 12V port has worked flawlessly and met our electronic power supply needs while traveling. The blue led backlighting was a nice touch as well. We traveled 2300 miles with 4 adults and 2 children on our trip and everyone maintained surplus charging capabilities in excess of the factory 12V provided power supply ports. A very good purchase that I highly recommend.

At separate times, I have ordered 3 of these same units and have installed them in various configurations within my vehicle. I’ve used just the single socket for USB cables in a single stand-alone way to replace the vehicle’s original socket-type 12V plugs and I’ve installed the dual faceplate to install both in a new location. The process was easy and the results were as expected. Both styles of plug (socket and USB) provided the expected result except for one issue. The socket-type of 12V receptacle was found to be very “picky” when it comes to inserting a 12V probe type plug. The plug-in connection must be exact and any movement at all will result in the item not receiving power. You must be able to seat the plug exactly and not bump or move it. I ended up replacing it with the OEM vehicle socket because of the constant loss of power to a device that had a slightly heavy plug that kept falling out of the proper position. This is the reason that I didn’t provide 5 stars. For some, it may be okay. For me, it was not as secure of a plug that I would have liked.
