My son-in-law are building a go-kart for his son. We have many of the parts but haven’t put it all together yet. I ordered this disc brake, brake pads and caliper to be to be used as soon as we start assembling, but I’ll do my best to describe it.
The disc is very heavy and feels strong. In fact, it looks almost as thick as the discs on my wife’s car. It’s a nice shiny silver color and almost 6” in diameter. The promo page also says they are made of hardened steel.
The caliper feels very heavy duty and contains the brake pads, which also look well manufactured. The bracket is steel as well and nicely formed but as you can see, it’s pretty scratched up. It’s easy for me to re-paint though. All the parts came wrapped in bubble wrap except the bracket. Perhaps this is why it’s scratched up. I never really understand why the white gloves are added, but it’s a nice touch.
The set is nice and should fully meet my purpose in the go-kart.

Installed easily, works good.
Make sure caliper slides easily on mounting bracket.

Can’t beat this kit for the price. Perfect for my 11 year old nephew’s go-kart project. Safe quick breaking.

I have built dozens upon dozens of minibikes. I live on a 500+ acre (former) farm and the vast majority of my extremely large family lives here somewhere as well. If it’s even a remotely nice day, there will be at least a dozen people riding around on something I built. So, I know a thing or two about minibike brakes. When I first started building them, I tried band brakes around the clutch and that was…not a great idea unless the rider was 100 pounds. I started using these things years ago and they work fantastically.
I build my minibikes to use these as rear brakes, and it works great. I do always get a 7/8″ adapter from somewhere. I could technically make one, since I have a machine shop, but they don’t even cost $10 and they would take over an hour to make so I don’t bother.
These are all pretty much exactly the same. If you’ve purchased something that looks just like this, you probably have purchased something that is exactly like this. If you are building a minibike from scratch or from a bare frame, these things are good.
