It works. Brought our mdx back to life. Hopefully lasts for longer than a year.

I have used this starter for just over a year… just outside of the warranty. It has worked well so far, but suddenly has stopped working. After inspecting battery terminals, fuses and wiring, I realized that the very short copper braided wire that connects the starter motor to the solenoid was disconnected. There was a small spot weld that apparently wasn’t welded properly and came loose. Now I will need to pull the entire unit to repair the connection. The product is made in China, so quality issues should be expected. Here are a couple photos.

IT took a bit longer to replace as I had to do it in a driveway. Access to bolts may be easier from below.
After installing, found out that the battery was dead and there was nothing wrong with the original starter. That being said, it sounds and functions perfectly well.

A perfect, brand-new, OEM quality starter for half the price you would pay for a re-manufactured starter from one of the large auto parts chains. Installed as expected, and all necessary pieces were included. I just wish I knew what to do with the old core, as there is no way to recycle it that I’m aware of.
Jack R. Brenner Jr –
Perfect match for the OEM starter, it went on very easy (It didn’t not require any shims) and started perfectly on the first try. I am novice mechanic and I was able to remove and install in less than 2 hours. For the price you cannot beat it. All brand new parts at 1/3 of the cost of a remanned unit.
The only issue is the box could have been better packed. The starter has some bubble wrap on it but it is heavy and you can tell it rolled around a bit in transit based on the condition of the box. Since Amazon over boxes everything, the outer box was fine.

Works great on our Acura.

After waiting 3-days for the starter to be delivered I finally received it. When opening the Amazon box, the box with the starter was ripped up and not tapped shut, as if someone had it out previously. Since I had no way to test it, I went about installing it in my 2006 Acura MDX. When I finally got everything back together (a real pain in the A$$) and tried to start, it starter motor spun but the solenoid didn’t engage or work. After a couple tries, ended up having to purchase one from a local parts store for 2.5x the cost of this unit from Amazon. This is the last time I try buying any mechanical parts from Amazon. It’s not worth the frustrations when it doesn’t work.

Trusted product from Amazon.

The product manufactured by TYC offers a decent replacement for the original starter. In my case, it replaced the original Acura MDX starter. Fit and overall built is decent. The operation of the starter (just a couple of days) matches the original one in good condition.
The replacement took me 4 hours. Relatively easy job for a DIY aficionado. Basic tools are required only.

its the cheapest starter for MDX on amazon dont need name brand starter for old car. the instruction sucks but there are detailed instructions online.
Update: 10/16/2014
Starter died after about 1 year of use, I guess you get what you paid for. I first thought it was the battery cables since they were corroded so I ordered brand new oem one’s and replaced both positive and negative. Had the battery checked and charged, the battery was new as of 12/2013, it tested in good condition.
