This is the worst thing I’ve ever purchased. Clearly defective. 60 dollars down the drain.
Installed it and it worked fine only one time. I drove to work, then at the end of the day drove to the gas station and it refused to start. I had to get my car towed for 100 dollars, now paying $500 for a new starter to get installed.

Fix the issue… the car would not start, when turning the key we got no noise, no clicking, just silence. This starter bolted right in with no issues. The car started right up and has been working great.

Original starter was finally giving out after 176k miles. Once the original starter heated up, if I shut the car off and tried to restart immediately, nothing. Classic sign the original starter was doomed. Purchased this one for HALF the cost as my local brick and mortar parts store. At this point with the car being 13 years old and 176k+ miles… I want to put as little money in it as possible. Shipped over-night, delivered the next day. Installed it in my Saturn in about an hour. Works perfectly. So far, so good. Starts right up every time. Very pleased with this purchase.

My 1995 Saturn SW2 was giving me a loud CLICKING noise, when I would turn the key (I write that in all caps because it was so hard to find anyone saying anything about how when a starter goes out, it might just give you a loud CLICK, and then start the car eventually). After a couple of attempts, it would catch and the car would turnover. However, I drive to Seattle for work sometimes, and did not want to be stranded with my crew 60 miles from home, so, unfortunately, the car had been sitting and I had been using our family car to drive to work.

I even drove the Saturn over to the mechanic, who said they couldn’t even look at it until next week. Shoot, I thought, so I just brought the car home. Read a couple of diagnosis articles, watched a couple of videos, looked up pricing, and thought I could at least save some money if I could purchase the starter cheaply, and then just pay for labor at the mechanic. So I took a chance on this starter because of the price point, did not need to send in a core, anything.

It came, and then I watched a very very helpful YouTube tutorial video from user RichPin (thank you if you ever read this). Starter was held in by just two bolts, and two electrical connections. Heck, I could do this, I thought. So I worked up enough nerve, had a beautiful Saturday off, raised the car up, got underneath, pulled the old starter out (still was not even sure if the Starter was the main issue at this point btw) put the new one in. Put in the key, and VROOOM! It was awesome!! Earned some hubby points for being able to give my wife her car back, and saving the family quite a bit of cash. (I’ve heard starters costing anywhere from $300 to $400.) So, thank you Amazon, and thank you to the supplier of this Starter. It really helped my family out. It’s two weeks later, and it still works like a charm.

Great price, good quality part. Installed January 2015 right before -10F temperatures in the Midwest. Worked good in the very cold temperatures. Cranks at a different speed than the original starter and has a noticeably louder gear growl to it (maybe because it is new). So, expect a different sound from the starter when you install this one. Installation was generally easy except that the top bolt took a fair amount of effort to install. Not hard, but there was a lot of wiggling of the bolt and limited turn range to cinch down the bolt. Not the starter fault, but nice to know once you are installing. I will report back if I experience any problems.

Update:-8F this morning and starter hung up on first try. The car started, but not a real confidence builder for what is supposed to be the “winter” car. Not exactly a problem, but I will update.

Good starter motor. Same price as used less the core charge. Good starter!

    Excellent price, great fit.

Used on a 2002 Saturn SL2 fit nicely and worked right away. My old starter would stop working with no signs of being bad like clicking noises or a slow crank it would work to start the car I would drive for 10-15 minutes and it would be dead and not work again for 5 – 6 hours. I installed this starter and haven’t had the issue resurface .

Pour problème de non démarrage, installé et problème réglé ,très bon service

Saturn changed their starter in approx 1995 to make it a bit shorter and significantly lighter. I believe they use neodymium magnets to maintain the torque of the starter but have not received any confirmation of this fact.
At any rate the starter mount is the same as previous models but the starter itself is a little bit shorter. Due to the lighter weight the starter does not require the block mounted brace at the rear of the starter.
This starter will fit, but the wire from the alternator is a VERY tight fit. I recommend either replacing the wire (12Gauge) on mine or shimming the stud with washers to give the wire a little slack.
Included in the box is a readout of the mechanical and electrical testing of the starter, as well as instructions for installation. The starter feels high quality, turns the engine quickly and smoothly.
I’ve used TYC parts on other cars in the family and they have worked well, and I’m comforted by the great warranty should replacement ever be necessary.
For older saturns this starter is a valid option, so long as you make provision for the wire from the alternator that mounts on the main power stud on the starter. It’s much easier to install as you can get to the tricky top mounting bolt much easier without the rear bracket.
    Highly recommended replacement part.
