They don’t last. First one stopped kicking the gear out and started grinding on the flex plate. The second one clicks, but never powers the starter motor. Total garbage.

I was a little nervous about buying this starter. But decided to because of the price and the fact that the entire starter is new, not remanufactured. Install took about 1 hour and fit perfectly. The heat shield was removed from the old starter and clip perfectly on the TYC unit. The only difference between this and the OE is the color (silver instead of a gold color) and the sound of the motor is slightly more high pitched. I would by this unit again. My old starter lasted for 200K.

I don’t normally read reviews, but I had to for this one. The starter does work, but the sound it makes is insane. Must be 5 times louder than the stock one, high pitched and makes the most insane and loud spinoff sounds once the vehicle starts. If you need a cheap starter, this will work. If you want everyone in the parking lot to think your starter is on crack, embarrass your wife, and make your kids cover their ears, this one is for you. Otherwise by an ACDelco or a Remy.

Removing the old starter and installing a new one is a tough task on the 5.3 liter vortec lh6 engines. Very infuriating. Not the fault of the starter of course, but I put 5 stars on “easy to install” because it’s not the starter manufacturer’s fault.
Also, when I purchased this item (July 2022) Amazon’s fitment checker said this would not fit a 2008 Saab 9-7x 5.3i. I can confirm it fits and works great.
Great starter so far. Time will tell if it lasts!

Good product. I like how they also ship the product performance graph. Some products claim hundreds of tests but this one proves it. Stonger than original.

Works fine. Is smaller than OEM which is good for installing it. Sounds like a Asian car starter, sounds goes away once its broken in. Sound is a non factor. Had it 4-5 weeks no issues. Keep in mind store brand starters are just cheap Chinese parts with a different box or brand name. I’m happy with this being a new starter and its low price. Order now. It’s A Ok.

This starter is brand new inside and out bolted up quick and easy turns over strong and dependable cant beat the price for new when it cost more for a rebuilt at your local parts store, if your not familiar with TYC a lot of the commercial shop use them because they make a good product and less chance of warranty work coming back for a remanufactured product.
