Got this for my classic car to disconnect the battery so that it won’t drain too much in the cold months. It fits perfectly on the negative side both on the battery post and to the cable. The switch works fine for the few times I start it up over the winter and I plan to pull it off once spring hits. Great device for car storage.
Trekhead –
Useful for vehicle batteries that tend to sit for longer periods of time between uses. Prevents any usual low current drain that will drain the battery quicker than a complete disconnect.
Its inline shape works well when there is no need for a pivot point to fit in a tight compartment. No pivot point to come loose or corrode. Remove battery cable, connect to switch, and connect switch to the battery terminal. Easily turn switch knob to on or off position as needed.
Being used in a RV tow vehicle where the vehicle sits for periods of time between camping trips is working well. I find fully charging the battery prior to disconnect helps prolong holding a charge. How long depends on a lot of factors and you will lose any device’s memory that relies on the battery, like the clock and station settings on a stereo. Eventually the batter will discharge on its own, disconnect just helps prolong how long that takes.

This has been an impressive disconnect switch so far. It’s pretty much universal for any battery/cable setup that uses standard round terminals. It takes just a few minutes to install and works just fine.
All you’ve got to do is unfasten your negative cable from your negative battery terminal and install this switch between your cable and battery. Once it’s on and tightened all you need to do is turn the switch to disconnect/reconnect the current. As long as the internal mechanism in the switch dial doesn’t prematurely wear out after a few years I think this is an excellent product for the price.

It does not fit all cars.
I can not install it in my 1996 Land Cruiser. It fits in a 1997 RAM 1500, but it does not need it. If the space between the male connector and the housing was 4mm bigger ìt might fit the negative connection to the car.

somewhat functional but feels like low quality. I don’t know if I can trust it. Time will tell. Can’t adjust the post connector, it’s stiff like it’s solid in place making it difficult to pinch strong enough.

I got this to use in a vehicle that I do not drive that often that has some vampire discharge on the battery and always ends up being dead when I go to start it. In testing this, it did effectively turn off the connection to the negative terminal in the off position and immediately reconnect in the on position. Unfortunately with the oversized battery in my battery tray space, I could not find a position to permanently install this where it would not end up touching other metal and causing a short. So like with everything else in life, make sure you measure the space you have under the hood before purchasing this.
As mentioned above, this is intended for the negative battery terminal which is a different width post than the positive terminal – there seems to be some confusion around that in some other reviews.
IN summary, as long as you have enough room for this, it is a good purchase to keep your battery alive on a seldomly used vehicle.

Even though I use my travel trailer monthly, the battery does tend to die annually as the daily solar recharge and discharge cycles takes its toll. I only need power to the trailer a couple days before traveling to get the 12V fridge down to temp, so I installed a disconnect previously. However, the screw style disconnect doesn’t really “disconnect” well and recently, the battery would stay connected even though I have the screw removed.
This style of battery disconnect has a much more robust disconnect dial. The switch has a very positive engagement and solid click, and worked perfectly as soon as installed it on the battery. Hopefully it stands up to the weather as the battery is on the tongue shelf outside, but so far, it works great and is exactly what I need to store my trailer.
