I needed a quick disconnect for an indoor car show. I wanted something that I could install quickly and easily and looked good under the hood.
It’s nothing special, but works exactly as it should and that’s truly all that I ask for. When the judges came around to double check my battery was disabled, I was able to quickly show them the disconnect and web were all good. Once the show was over, my reconnect took all of 1 second and we were ready to roll.
Can’t recommend this enough!

I’ve got an older pickup that doesn’t get driven much, and sits outside where it isn’t practical to put it on a trickle charger, so we solved the problem by disconnecting the negative lead from the battery terminal. That works, but requires me having a wrench handy to reconnect it when needed. This switch should solve the problem.
This is a simple enough device, and you can see from one of my pix that I took it apart to understand how it works. Simply, the red knob turns an internal copper plate. In the “on” position, the plate connects the circuit, but rotate it 90 degrees, and the circuit is cut. They cleverly put some grease on the plate so that it rotates freely, and it is spring loaded to make certain that the plate makes contact.
I am highly sceptical of the claims of “all copper” terminals as the terminals appear to be (poorly) plated with something that sure doesn’t look like copper. The rotating plate, however, appears to be solid copper. I had contemplated drilling into the terminals just to see, but I’m installing this, so I don’t want to damage it just to find out. I’m also concerned about this being cantilevered off the side of my battery neg terminal as that will put stress on the black plastic frame. Time will tell…and I’ll update if any issues.

This battery disconnect was supposed to fix a problem with my old pickup that keeps draining it’s battery. First, there are no installation instructions, but it’s pretty straight forward. It was going well until I tried to tighten the bolt around the cable and…snap! The bottom of the bracket broke off. So this is a definite no from me.

I only use my plow truck in the winter months, so it sits for the spring and summer. This works really well for cutting off the battery from the truck so it doesn’t drain down. Only had it on for a few days, but I’m sure this will do the trick. I had a copper flip style battery switch for the past couple of years but the copper builds up corrosion and doesn’t make good contact. This item should eliminate that problem.

This is much as described.
Switch isn’t very rugged, and the extended terminal is hollow, but it looks like it will get the job done.
Price is a little high, but no worse than the probably cost in the local auto parts store.

While restoring some cars I need to disconnect the battery frequently and don’t like pulling the cable. The switch is pretty big and the negative post (where you should install) faces the front of the vehicle. As a result of the battery, I cannot use this and close the hood on my older car(s). However, it still fits the bill for doing work on the car because the hood is always up. I have other cars and can find a different application, but think about how you will install before ordering.
The clamp is large and I really had to snug it down to even hold the battery post. The switch post where you attach the negative cable is small and I had the same issue where the cable didn’t tighten well. Consider a conductive shim to make it hold better. Your battery may have a larger post and it may work fine.
Switch itself does what is supposed to do – stop current.
