I have a 1998 Ford Escort that I am in the middle of replacing the automatic transmission on and before I put the “new†one in, I decided it would be best to replace the external seals on it and not worry about it failing because of a leak.
This seal is the replacement for the input shaft seal on the Ford F4EIII transmission on the late model Escorts and 1st generation Ford Focus and it fits perfectly and was the same dimensions as the original that I removed from my transmission. It has the quality you would expect from Timkin and came in an extremely reasonable timeframe, which is good because I needed it as quickly as I could get it because I screwed up the last time I installed it in this transmission a few days prior.
Overall, I am happy I could find this and that it is from a manufacturer I trust to the utmost from previous experience. I have never had any issue with Timkin bearings and seals I have installed over the years and I don’t expect this one to be any different. So far, it seems like I am justified in my continued belief in Timkin quality.
