doesn’t have B&S branding on it, but it does appear to be well made and worked great on my mower.
J. Maxon –
This replacement carburetor was a direct replacement for a Nikki carburetor on my 2010 Troy-Bilt Pony Lawn Tractor with a 17.5HP Briggs & Stratton 31C707 0603 B2 engine.
The carburetor ships with additional plastic parts which appear to be for manually-choked engines. I discarded them.
During shipping, the choke spring slipped and was not under tension. Make sure you check that the choke spring opens the choke properly before you reassemble the engine. I wish I had.
To re-seat the spring properly, I used needle nose pliers to remove the choke plate from the rod and lifted the choke assembly up, exposing the spring beneath the foam spring cover. I rotated the assembly until the spring was under tension from the post on the top of the carburetor and the bottom of the choke lever. I slid the choke plate back into the slot paying attention to the orientation, and reattached the choke link. It worked immediately.

Bought this because it didn’t cost much more than a rebuild kit. It works great.

Fitted perfectly on my 2008 Troy built Pony riding mower.
Tim S. –
Fit my mower perfectly….I don’t know why others had problems with this unit. It was plug and play for me! I put it on my mower and it started right up…..no adjustments needed.

If you are comfortable using tools to remove the existing carburetor, then installing this one should be no problem. Take pictures as you remove the old one and use them as reference for the installation. Mount the new unit, hook up the fuel and control linkages, and it works. You may want to tweak the mixture screw for maximum power if desired, but there is nothing to be afraid of here. No instructions included but videos are available online.

The only drawback I can find on this one is the fact that the electrical plug at the bottom of the carburetor for whatever the solenoid is does not securely click in it clicks enough to work but not enough to be secured. However I did just bolted on my mower and it worked fine with no adjustments.
Joe Geray –
Had to do some work on the choke flapper and linkage, it was stuck, after that, easy install and solved all the flooding out problems on my 17.5 horse briggs and stratton lawn mower engine.
