I really wanted to love this but, the first one I received came apart the first time I used it and the second on would not always charge and the USB cable would just fall out. I tired an Apple cable but it wouldn’t stay in any better.

After being woefully disappointed with a less expensive magnetic phone holder for my Tesla that used flimsy plastic that wouldn’t hold my phone in place (the whole thing fell off while driving), I decided to take a chance on the old adage, “you get what you pay for”. At close to $30, this accessory is not cheap, but it’s far better built with one possible exception. Read on.
The major shortcoming of the cheaper model I tried was that the plastic used was too soft and flexible, making a secure mount to the screen impossible. This one uses ABS or some other sort of hard, inflexible plastic for the corner screen brackets, which doesn’t flex at all while the device is being tightened into place. I could tell right away that this was a far superior product as I was turning the tightening adjuster behind the screen. The little suction cups that meet the back of the monitor are NOT a gimmick, but actually functional. With the stable screen corner brackets and this suction mount, it felt stable and secure without having to over tighten. Really good. When I removed the mount after my initial testing, I could actually hear multiple the little suction cups breaking loose from the back of the screen with little soft popping sounds. So yeah, the suction cups are legit. I really like that this mount can be quickly and securely installed and just as quickly and easily removed.
The only thing I may have mild concerns over is the strength of the magnet that holds the phone. It has a variable setting (that presumably moves the internal magnet further or closer to the surface to decrease or increase magnetic strength. I prefer it on the strongest setting, but not sure how it would react in a collision or driving over a bumpy surface. I think it’s going to be okay though. It positions the phone exactly where I would want it during my drive. I believe this is the last magnetic phone mount I will be needing for my Tesla.

Installation was extremely easy. I don’t love the blue light, but it reminds me to put the phone on the charger, so I guess it’s fine. It has a strong hold if you take your phone out of its case. I haven’t tried installing the extra magnet because I’m worried about it ruining my RFID badge I keep in my wallet/case. Overall good product.

I tested this in both a Cybertruck and a refresehd (23′) Model X and it worked perfectly in both. On the drivers side in the X with an iPhone 13 Pro Max it comes close to blocking the driver’s screen, but it remains fully visible. It is fully clear in the Cybertruck.
Mounting it is simple and easy. Simply turn two dials and it locks onto the screen. The magnet that holds the phone is super strong so at no point have the phone is loose or at risk of falling.
