I notice sometimes that reviews get combined on different products from the same company, This review is for the TRFA01 4AA Battery Powered Pump. I have only owned this for a couple of days now. Like others on here I get fuel perks that allow me to save on up to 30 gallons of fuel, but only 1 vehicle and 1 transaction. If you try and keep the pump on and fill another vehicle , they cut the pump off!. But our cars only hold 16 or 17 gallons. So i started looking at one of those portable fuel tanks on wheels that holds 15 gallons to take with me when i redeem my gas perks. But i also started to consider the sheer weight of those things when full. Gas weighs a little over 6 pounds per gallon. So add the weight of the tank itself , maybe 5 lbs. and you are in the neighborhood of 95 lbs. So I asked myself , am i really going to try and get the extra gas if i have to load and unload that kind of weight each time? Not gonna do it, i know me. In the past I have used (3) 5 gallon cans. The problem is getting the gas from the can into the car, you either have to use a funnel, which gets messy or turn the can upside down to empty after half way. Unfortunately all my cans are the NEW EPA cans and even though i have 2 different styles , they leak when turned upside down, either due to age of the seals around the no vent mechanism or just their design, definitely messy.(they work fine when used upright as intended). So I ordered this after reading some reviews and am now convinced that this is the way to go after emptying 3 cans of various volume into 2 different vehicles. On my sedan i was even able to set the can on the ground and it worked nicely, emptying almost 5 full gallons in to my tank. I would say as a guesstimate, it emptied the can in about 4 minutes. On the minivan i just held it level in one hand and it pumped it out in no time. I am 100% sure this will also make filling my generators, garden tractors and other equipment a lot easier with less mess. Will probably order another as a gift. Also a nice to know feature is that if they batteries die and you only find 2 batteries, you can just use those in the 2 center slots and it will work. With kids , i am sure i can always scavenge at least 2! Hope this helps someone.

Like many others, I use five-gallon cans to refill the fuel tank on powered equipment. The problems with this are well known. I searched for years to find a solution, and tried a variety of different products. Some of them worked, but none of them quite got it right. Then I saw this Terapump on Amazon and decided to give it a try, though from past experience my expectations weren’t very high.
When it came I was already impressed just by the packaging and the accessory parts that came with it. When I installed it into a fuel can and started to use it I almost couldn’t believe it–finally, a perfect solution! This is one of those really rare products that solves an actual everyday problem and just gets it exactly right.
A number of nice features stand out: (1) It has a selection of collars to allow it to screw tightly onto all the common threads on the mouth of different plastic cans; (2) The end that goes into the can is weighted and has a filter so it stays at the bottom of the can but won’t suck in any particles that may have gotten into the can; (3) The outlet end has a clever latch that allows it to hold onto the neck of the tank you are filling; (4) The battery holder has well-made on-off switches which you don’t need to keep holding; (5) It has an automatic-off feature that shuts the pump off when the receiving tank is full, just like the pumps at a fuelling station; (6) The pump head has a receptacle to insert the hose into for storage, using the same latch that holds it into a tank; (7) And of course the pump itself works very well and is reasonably fast.
One unexpected benefit of the way the Terapump works is that you can hold a flashlight to see how the receiving tank is filling, which is nice even though the pump has the auto shut-off. Without this pump, you are busy holding the five-gallon can and you don’t have an extra hand for the flashlight.
One thing I would note is that the hose is slightly short to reach up to the tank of larger machines. On the other hand, a longer hose would be more of a nuisance when storing partially-emptied five-gallon cans. It’s a tradeoff, and there are ways around this, so I just note it but wouldn’t detract for it.
Though I use it for fuel, it’s obvious that it would work just as well transferring other liquids, and would have all the same benefits.

I have two of these TeraPumps … one for my shop and one at the lake.
At my shop I use this to pump gas into vehicles, quads, boats, lawnmowers, snow blowers … you name it … it works!
This is the best way to pump gas into my boat when it’s on the dock at the lake,
Prior to buying these Tera Pumps I was using a flo-n-go hand nozzle pump … it works but was very slow and you had to hold and pump the hand nozzle on the flo-n-go.
With the TeraPump all you do is clip the hose onto your gas inlet and press the On Button. Gas immediately starts flowing and will stop automatically when it senses your tank is full and your gas is going to overflow.
The nozzle has a clip on it that grips and holds so you don’t have to hold onto the hose while you’re filling. The pump flows fast and unlike some reviewer’s I’ve had no problem with leaks from the gas can or adapter ring.
CONS – Improvements: There are a couple areas where they could imporve this pump.
Adapter Rings: You get three (3) adapter rings which fit most gas cans. My adapter rings don’t leak but I have two different styles of gas cans and I have to carry two different adapter rings with me to fit the different cans. Swapping adapter rings is a minor annoyance.
Hose Length: 35″ inches of hose works well most of the time however sometimes I have to lift the jerry can off the floor and place it on a stool so it will reach. It would be great if the hose was a little longer or there was an option to add a longer hose.
Stick Pump Option: After buying this pump I found they also make a Battery Operated TerraPump STICK PUMP. The Stick Pump doesn’t require adapter rings for different size jerry cans and simply drops into the can rather than messing with the adapter rings. The only problem with the stick pump is it uses D Batteries instead of AA’s which are more common and convenient. Here’s a link to the stick pump

Overall – I like this pump a lot and would highly recommend it. I’ve had no leaks with mine however if you’re concerned with leaks from the adapter rings or just don’t want to mess with the inconvenience of adapter rings then the TeraPump stick pump may be a better option.

We bought the cheap ones that looked like this but they weren’t. This one worked fantastic, we highly recommend it. Don’t waste your money on the cheaper ones that look similar. This is the best thing since sliced bread!!! Seriously it works great, no leak, no issues, easy for one person to operate. Thank god I found this one.

I bought this item after a friend recommended it and gave me a demonstration of his unit. I would have never purchased this item without his recommendation, because to me, putting a “Made in China” electronic pump on top of a gas tank seems like a recipe for a shop fire. Anyway, I was so impressed with the operation of the pump that I ordered one for myself and have been very happy with it so far (it’s only been about a month).
The unit is simple to operate with only two buttons; off and on. The pump has an overflow sensor that shuts off the unit when it senses that the gas tank is full (a lot of reviews complain that this sensor fails). The pump works really well and can empty my five gallon gas can in about a minute and a half.
The reason I’ve deducted a star is because of how flimsy the parts are; everything on it is made of cheap ABS plastic with no fiber reinforcing. The on and off buttons feel flimsy and seem to be another high failure area based on other reviews. I don’t have confidence that this tool will last very long, which is sad because the concept behind this pump is phenomenal. Recommend the manufacturer invest more money in making this more of a tool than a novelty; many of us would gladly pay more for a quality item. I will update this review when the pump fails or my shop burns to the ground.

My first time using this project was easy and simple. It filled up my snowmobile and shut off when it was full.
I will update later if I find the 4 batteries need to be changed frequently. I have pumped 50l without issue.
The nozzel length is adequate but had to lift the tank to the running boards on the sled. Way better than holding a tank to full up.
I used non-vented plastic tanks, and the pump had no issues.
