I had to come back and redo this review. This charger has an ON:OFF feature. I thought the pretty light stopped working but it was just “turned off”. Duh moment. I have used this item about 5 times now and it’s still delivering power. It’s super cute, especially with my led lights inside my car. It gives you USB-B and USB-C ports to charge with.

Here’s an update after several weeks of use – This charger doesn’t stay adequately seated in my car’s 9v port. As all of the chargers before it did stay adequately seated, I’m going to say that the problem is this charger, not my port. I dropped the rating by one star, because this shouldn’t happen, and I have to constantly check for the pretty lights on the charger to make sure that it’s still providing power. Unfortunate.

And I do need it.
This car charger was not intended to fill my usual requirements for a two-port car charger – which is to power two phones during a trip, while they do all the stuff that two phones might do, while keeping them at 100% charge. I’m pretty sure that this charger – with its beefy 45W rating – would do that pretty easily.
But no, this charger was selected to power my hyper-fussy, wattage-sucking, Surface Pro tablet on long car trips. My wife and I will often jump in the car and hit the road for 10-16 hours per day on a long-distance trip. This is much too long for the battery in my Surface to charge in the hotel and then last all day. Yet I am self-employed and generally make use of time, such as we spend in the car.
This charger was going to hopefully provide the solution to the Surface problem, by providing enough power to keep it running all day long.
And I am pleased to report that provide it, it does. I was thrilled just to see that this charger was able to illuminate the charging light on my proprietary Surface charging cable (such a pain – don’t ask). But not only did the status light illuminate, the Surface actually charged – and kept charging. Each step a real accomplishment in the Surface world. I’m thrilled.
So, that was the big thing for me. But I’ll cover a couple of other things about the charger.
When it first receives power, it does a fun multi-colored light show around the edge of the charger and in the ports. Okay, it’s frivolous, right? But I’m a serious older gentleman, and I found it to be quite fun. There’s a tiny button that is set flush on the face of the charger that my big old fingers will never have the dexterity to push, but it can change the color of the light-show.
One port is USB-C and the other port is USB-A. I verified that I was able to get the power required for my Surface out of either one of these ports. You know that you’re not going to get that much power out of both of the ports at the same time, though – right? Using both ports will split the amount of available power.
I assume that the outer shell of this charger is made of plastic – otherwise it would seem a bit dangerous to plug it into a 9V socket, but it feels very solid. I think that it will hold up to my use just fine.
It comes with a three-foot, polymer-sheathed cable, that isn’t of any particular note. While the length is perfect for the car, the other aspects of the cable aren’t anything to particularly write home about. I did verify that the cable will conduct the power that the charger puts out. However, it is a power-only cable, and it will not conduct data.
But again, I got this package for the charger – and the charger is great.

Der Stecker passt super in meinem neuen Opel Corsa (Zulassung 2025) und kann ich endlich mein Handy über den Zigarettenanzünder laden. Ob der Stecker bei Benutzung leuchtet oder nicht, war für mich persönlich egal, wichtiger war, dass er in meinem Auto reinpasst und funktioniert. Dass es den Stecker sogar in der Farbe Rot gibt, war für mich ein highlight, denn mein Auto hat auch die rote Farbe. Daher bin ich sehr happy mit meinem stilvollen roten Stecker, der meine Erwartungen einwandfrei erfüllt. Danke.

The usb-c port started having issues after a couple months of light use. When plugged into a phone, the charge on the phone goes on and off. I tried several cables and had the same result each time. The larger usb port works fine. Device stopped working past the return period.
