Unit is very frustrating, because it is basically exactly what I need. I just wish they included informative directions. There is a direction sheet, which tells you how to hook it up, but does not explain operation of unit.
There is a selector button which can be set for 6v, or 12 in either regular (I guess), Cold mode, or LFP (whatever that means). It does state in the manual that LFP puts out 14.4 volts instead of 14.6 for the regular (same amperage). No where does it tell you the significance. Cold mode apparently puts out 14.8 volts.
The description says the backlit LCD display shows voltage and charging progress. I get a light that blinks once red, then blinks green. I do not know what sort of progress that means. Maybe it will turn solid green when it is done? Maybe it blinks faster, slower? They should let you know.
The unit is very compact, and comes with nice alligator clips, and terminal rings. It would probably rate 5 stars if it only had descriptive instructions.

You can see what’s included in the manufacturer’s packaging from the photos and after I connected it to my vehicle. The product looks to be well made and the description is correct for what this maintainer’s capabilities are. I find the instructions are not very informative on how to know what the progress of the charger is and when you would know it entered the maintain mode. The description says it has a backlit lcd display that shows its progress but that does not apply to this charger. This charger has a small window with a led light that goes from a somewhat moderately green light to a dim green light when it reaches the maintain mode. I went to Sylvania’s website and found no information regarding how to know what mode it’s in. I contacted their product support and they didn’t know but said they would inquire about it and contact me with the information regarding the chargers function and how to know when it enters the maintain mode. I never heard back from them so I believe customer support is not important with this product.
So the bottom line is that this charger functions correctly for what it’s intended for but falls short on information and Sylvania’s product support.

Most sealed batteries like agm and gel types, charging voltages above 14.4 can boil the electrolyte out and there is no way to put it back in a sealed battery. Regular flooded batteries, the ones with the the removable caps can take higher charging voltages. So be sure to use the 14.4 LFP setting for anything other than a regular flooded battery.

Finally put this to use, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Our car battery nearly went dead while at the airport long term parking. When we got it home my wife went to use the car and it was still struggling to start. I put this on it for a few hours and, while it wasn’t indicating it was done it was enough to get it to a more healthy spot and the driving I did after it appears to be enough to get the battery back to a good spot, though probably need to replace it.
The downside to this charger is there are really no instructions. I searched online and really didn’t find anything more that helped. The power button cycles through and it’s relatively intuitive to get it set where you want it. I just couldn’t find anything on how to tell when it’s done… but assuming the green blinking light would eventually have gone steady if I left it.
I did like how they provided both the battery clamps as well as the connector that you’d likely use for trickle charging to basically keep a battery from discharging in the first place. Once I get my quad running again and a new battery on it I’ll definitely hook this up and think it will be perfect for that. It is only 1AMP, so, what I did find online was that it can take 49 hours to charge a 12V auto battery but am assuming that’s from dead or nearly dead to full. They do have models with higher amperage that would charge quicker.
So, giving it 5 stars as it worked for me and saved me from immediately having to run out to drop a chunk of change on a new auto battery.

At 1 amp, I would not use this to try and charge a dead battery; I’d get an 8 amp or at least 4 amp model; this unit will take too long to recharge a dead battery.
We have a summer home and leave two cars in our primary residence. At 1 amp, it won’t charge fast, but that’s not what we need; we need a trickle charge to keep the car battery alive when we leave for four months at a time. More importantly than the 1 amp, this has an electronic floating, meaning that it will stop charging when the battery is full. Without this feature, some charges will continue to charge constantly, even when the battery is full, and this can shorten the life span of the battery.
This has a long enough cable and comes with alligator clamps to attach to the battery terminals and O-rings to attach to the battery terminals on a motorcycle. I would like to see O-ring connections for the car; they’re more stable with less chance of slipping off and make connecting to the charger easy if you intend to use this as a trickle charger and keep it attached for a long time. I’ll probably just clip the O-rings and solder on some larger rings for the car battery.
The unit itself is very simple to use, and the instructions are short and very clear. The unit has built-in prongs that insert into an AC outlet (N.A.)
If you’re looking for long-term storage with a floating charger, this is a good piece of equipment.
