After checking auto parts stores I ordered this part and it was exactly what I needed.
Kurt Pollard –
Perfect replacement
George Grady –
It could have had thread sealant would have been good but I had some running places not a problem
Christopher Hicks –
Works very well
Doc –
Install this without any Teflon tape or anti seize, as it requires a good connection to ground through the threads in the engine block. This restored my temperature gauge functionality before this it was reading a bit low.
96 – 99 classic vortec engines have 2 temp sensors. This one is for the gauge only. The temp sensor for the computer is located on the intake.
Mike Olson –
This sensor on the 01, 4.3l v6 controls the dash temperature gauge. If your ECM is showing a very low temp like -38 degrees, there is another temperature sensor by the thermostat. The Haynes manual incorrectly claims there is only one sensor. Before replacing any parts test with an ohm meter while heating the sensor.

This part is for the gauge it fits easy to install
