This sensor is for the temp gauge, NOT the ecu input. On my 1994 2.3 ford ranger the sensor location is on the driver side of the engine towards the rear, directly under the oil pressure sensor. It’s most easily reached from under the truck.

Bought this for my 89 mustang gt 5.0 because the temp gauge on the dash wasn’t reading anything, it was a direct drop-in replacement and my gauge started working again 100%.
