Spectra air filters are every bit as good as K&N at a much better price. I do use K&N but if I can get a Spectra for application I will use the Spectra because of price. Take the names off the two and I don’t think you could tell them apart. I believe the air flow would be similar also.

Spectre – SPE-48022 Performance 48022 Air Filter 14 X 3 Cotton Fiber Red.
You can see in the picture the filter is installed on my 1967 Chevelle, 283 CI. engine. It is functioning just like the higher priced filter in my pick-up. Everything is running well and as far as I can tell, you can use a Spectre filter and get the same results as a higher priced alternative.

Pleasant surprise with this filter . I have always used the other high end brand on race cars but found this filter a great value for my daily driver hot rod. Came pre oiled and noticed fuel mile improvement over my old but dirty paper filter. No degrading of the filter so far after a few months. Its not dirty so the real test is when its time to clean and re oil i guess but so far so good. May have gained a bit of HP to be honest but that’s been proven with these filter types regardless on dyno . All in all im very happy so far

Spectre Air and oil breather filters not only dress up a hot rod engine but are well made and functional. The air filter can be cleaned and will last a long time. The price is much better than other high end named products and looks and functionality are the same.
