Our Promaster rear door latch gave out after 5 years. OEM part was $260 shipped; this one was only $100 (round figures). It was an exact match, except that the cable sleeve on the original was blue and it’s black on this. OEM was made in Germany; this one in China. At any rate, we pulled the old one out and put this one in. Sounds simpler than it is, but this is totally doable by people with reasonable DIY mechanical skills. The electrical plug is a bit complex (same on German or Chinese part) and it’s essential that you also remove the outside door handle/latch, which makes it easier to get to this unit. But once you deal with some of that, it’s basically just pull out the old and plug in the new. I don’t know how long this will last, but it worked once installed. Job took us about 2 hours because we worked slowly, documenting our steps, and were cautious about how much force we applied to parts as we removed or installed them. Wife and I are seniors, and we did it–you can too. Certainly saved us $160 on parts plus I’m betting $300 or more at the dealers.

exact replacement, and after adjusting the latch strike on the van bod side, it’s so smooth. My outside handle had stopped being able to open the door, and replacing the handle and the cables it came with didn’t do it. This came with the cables needed and everything is working again. I have replaced every part on my slider with this companies parts. I’m impressed at the quality and price. Installation takes some careful attention to detail, but the parts fit.

This part fixes the side door to open from the outside. When it broke, I could only open from the inside. There’s a video that shows how to remove this part on utube

I recently bought a 2017 Promaster 159″ wheelbase 2500. The rear door had been used up – the latch and strike were worn and loose, allowing the door to rattle
This new latch bolted right in place of the old worn-out one. Adjusted the newly-installed strike (purchased separately), and am happy with the result. Rattles eliminated.
I also bought new bolts from local home supply store since to old ones were worn and mismatched.
Seems like it will hold up to my recreational use – would probably do fine in a work van as well.
I now have a quiet tight door. Very satisfying to close the door now!
