Some of the parts included in the kit seemed low quality so I reused a couple of the old parts like the pins that hold the valves. All in all, this kit solved an issue I had where the motor ran fine until I ran it up to about 3500 rpm and then it would die and be hard to or wouldn’t start again until I pumped the system up again. After replacing fuel lines, primer ball and filters it still wasn’t right so I rebuilt the pump and the outboard runs great at higher RPM again. The diaphragms had no holes but they were very stretched out so I guess they wouldn’t operate as they should.

Fit my Force by Mercury 1996 120 HP fuel pump (fits many more…the two sided design with points sticking down is the design).
Kit was very complete.
Do take extreme care with the buttons that hold in the valves. I did have to reuse one of them from the original. There are videos on YT that show this same challenge. I suspect it is caused by not being a pro and having EXACTLY the right tools.
Still mission accomplished…fuel pump now works.

Wasn’t sure if I had a clogged carb or a fuel filter restriction, but engine ran fine at lower RPM but stumbled any faster than that. Watch an online video of a guy doing this in about 10 minutes, probably took me 5. Engine runs perfectly now, night and day difference. For the price this is a no brainer.

This fuel pump kit is a good product but I found the pins that hold little check valves in do not hold them adequately, after installation and I started it up and ran a few minutes and quit, I removed it from the engine and took it apart one of the check pins had slipped out of its position because the pins are not sized stout enough to stay locked in, I put one tiny drop of cement on each pin reassembled the fuel pump and its ran good every sense, so just a warning about those pins can be a problem. the pump is a well-built except for the little plastic pins.

Perfect replacement for a 1989 Mercury classic 40 4cyl two stroke. Had all parts and fit perfect. Pumps fuel great so far.
