We have vinyl seats in our pontoon boat and live in Florida. We have a lot humidity. I have a big problem with mold. At times in humid conditions these seats would turn black with mold. I would bleach and scrub more then I would use the boat. I tried storing under a carport, then tried a cover, nothing would work. A friend said to try scotch guard. So I went to Amazon to search for it and found this. I cleaned and dried the seats then sprayed them with scotch guard. WOW was I surprised. After weeks of storage, I checked them and found the seats damp from the dew and moderate mold starting again. I grabbed some towels and started wiping them down an the mold just wiped of with very little effort. I now use it on all my outside furniture.
NOTE: I also tried different cleaners to remove the mold with no success in till I found Vital-Oxide Mold and Mildew Remover. This too was pricey, But another winner. I found it to make removing mold from many different surfaces outside and works great, not harsh like bleach.

I think I had more scotchguard on my hands than on the cushions. I bought 2 cans and one wouldn’t spray because the spray cover was cracked. I had to use the good cap on both cans. It still gets a lot of scotchguard on your hands. Smells like gasoline.

This worked awesome for a Grill cover. I was going through grill covers every year, the CA sun was making the covers fade and rip pretty easy. So far I’ve sprayed the new grill cover and it’s lasted great with no fading for a year and a half now. It does still get dusty if it’s windy, but I just rinse it off with a hose, it cleans up and water beads off and dries fast. I figure if I have this and apply every year or so, the cover will last a long time and keep my grill looking new.

I never leave reviews but I’m so impressed I absolutely had to!
I researched and researched and finally bought this at what I thought was a reasonable price.
After spending £1800 on a new sofa set, I needed something intense to protect it from a dog and toddler.
One can did the sofa, armchair and footstool 4 times.
All I can say is wow! This stuff is AMAZING.
The water just rolls right off.
Good purchase!

I bought this to cover the white cushions of a new patio set but hadn’t applied it yet when I learned that Scotchgard had come out with a UV protecting version of it. With all the different Scotchgards, it’s hard to decide which is the best for a given application. The Scotchgard chart shows that both have the same coverage (except for the UV coverage, which isn’t listed.) I decided to buy both types to compare on a natural colored test cloth before using.
When dry, both types had equal water repelling properties: the water beaded up and rolled off with no saturation except in the area between and around the two test areas. Because they didn’t soak up any liquid, the circular spots became highly visible against the surrounding wet areas. I then poured coffee over each. I was able to blot up 90% of the coffee from each, but small stains remained. This UV version had slightly more staining, but that could have been a factor of how much coffee or the sludge content. I took soap and water to both — and the waterproof properties were immediately negated. This means that the product needs to be reapplied after cleaning, even after spot cleaning, to return it to its previous water resistant beginning. The Scotchgard should be reapplied as soon as beading starts to falter or at the beginning of each season.
In my test, this type was less visible than the UV kind, although neither would look obvious on an entirely treated cushion. Still, because my cushions are white, I decided to use this kind on them. I’ll save the other can for my dark blue cushions.

Just like ages ago when we first heard of and used ScotchGard, it still works wonderfully. I have six outdoor chairs that needed something to keep them from absorbing water. Thinking they were already protected when I bought them, I “washed the dust off” with the hose. Haha! Those chairs soaked it all up. As soon as they had dried, I ordered ScotchGard. It took no time or effort to cover the chair upholstery with a ScotchGard, test it by spraying them with water and watching each drop fall off and run toward the ground. Thank you, Scotcgard, for being the same great repellent as ever. My chairs are protected!

Excellent product. I sprayed my son’s backpack, and it has been an excellent barrier for rain.

We used this on our sun/sail shade to help protect it from rain. It doesn’t make it completely waterproof, but with a light rain the water does not go through the shade. We only applied it once this summer and it’s worked great. Although, we don’t get a lot of rain during the summer. I used two cans to do 2 shades. I will respray the shades next year for summer too.
