Excellent product. Not glossy more of a natural color. I bought used tires and couldn’t get them cleaned to look new. But this product works well. My used tires look brand new.

If you’re looking at this, you’re prob looking for a long lasting tire dressing. I am obsessed with my tire and have used many many brands. Everything from blackfire to carpro perl to cheap ones from Walmart.

The first thing you need to know is this product is a black dye. Is it basically a black paint that you brush on your tire. If you are not careful in applying it, you will be painting your rims. This it is recommended that you mask the rim.

Always clean your tires very well before you apply any tire dressing. I first use ADAMs and then PS tire cleaner. Both at full strength.

Longevity: at first, I had a very nice shine. These were used on my 2017 4runner. It does go on even and levels itself out relatively well. It has a semi gloss sheen. It was good for about 1 month before the coating started wearing off. I put roughly 5k miles a month so the acceleration of “wear” is significantly higher with me. However, it doesn’t wear evenly and now there are some spots on the side wall that is purely rubber and some parts are still coated.

And if you off road your tires, they will get dirty and brown real fast. I’m fact, the coating will discolor, especially in this Texas summer heat. The coating that is still on there has turned brown. If I scrape it with my nail, I can get some of it off. See picture. (I scratched a line of it off my side wall). You can see how the coating has been discolored. And this tire had been cleaned with adams + PS prior the picture. Still brown.

I will be going back to carpro PERL.

I read several reviews before buying and now I’m scratching my head at the ones that left 1 star reviews. I probably did several things the manufacturer would recommend you don’t do and it still turned out fabulous. The hardest part is the preparation. Cleaning the crud off my tires was the worst. I scrubbed with a heavy duty degreaser several times. I ended up using some denatured alcohol to clean off the old brown residue on left side but not the right. So we’ll see if that makes any difference. Applying this was a brainless event. I’m not sure how inept someone has to be to mess it up but they must be bad. The 5 minutes wait time between coats in nothing. Each tire took me at least 5 minutes to complete. So by that time you’re done with the second tire, the first is ready for a second coat. The glossy coat is a thinner consistency. I found applying it too heavy and rubbing hard made it kind of foamy, but it was simple to remedy but lightly rubbing over it with the back of the applicator. I left a few spots of it just so see how it looked when it dried and it cleared up on its own. This stuff is virtually fool proof. I will say that with my 5th wheel leveling gear I was able to lift my tires off the ground and spin them by hand. I’m sure that made it much easier too. The real test will be to see how long it last. Fingers crossed.

Color is dark and seems to last a few months . Easy to apply.

Having used black tire dyes before, I liked the flat “new” tire finish but the dye did not last long enough and eventually turned the tire brown-ish. Despite costing much more, I liked the restorative polymer concept behind BLAK and the reports that it was not too shiny.

For my first use, I removed the wheels from my car (I was rotating them anyway), washed and dried them thoroughly, then laid them over a plastic utility bucket, to raise them up and be able to turn them over and not scratch the finished side.

My BLAK package included 2 block sponge applicators, 1 foam paint brush, and 2 nitrile gloves, which increased the value and allowed me to use the product without having to buy applicators.

BLAK is really thin, almost like water, and I quickly learned to NOT squeeze the bottle. Instead, I allowed some BLAK to dribble out onto the sidewall and run around the rim. Using an included sponge block, I could then easily distribute the product. Two things to note: 1) shake the bottle before opening and in between coats and 2) do not over rub the product – just wipe on or distribute it then let it be.

After applying 3 coats to both sides of 4 17-inch tires, I only used about 1.5 to 2 oz. With 3 coats, the tires were a little more shiny than I like but not too shiny. The shine eased a bit over a few weeks and looks really good, now.

Having learned how little BLAK was actually needed, the cost turned out to be much less than the tire dye I had previously used and the finish is much more substantial. My car sits out in direct sunlight all day and the tires need good UV protection. BLAK also worked well on the rear bumper’s rubber pad, after applying painters tape to protect the white bumper.

I also contacted Renew Protect about some concerns and got actual replies from the owner! Now I have a better idea of what products to use for specific applications, how little product is needed per application, and how much longer the product will protect what it is applied to. I wish I had known about this company’s products years ago, and not wasted so much money on inferior car care products.

There is a bit of a learning curve to using the products but with a little practice and experience the results are outstanding. Having used polymer car care products for years, I’m glad that I finally found and tried BLAK, with RP.11 the next on my list to try. I think this company has the best polymers available to consumers.

I applied it exactly as instructed. The tires are back to the way they were pre-treatment after a few weeks. This product is probably intended for vehicles that aren’t daily drivers. Don’t waste your money if you’re not in that category.

    Worked great
