Fortunately, I inspected these before I installed them. Both units had their rubber blades improperly installed into the metal arms.
Explanation: The rubber blade has 2 slits molded on both sides running the length of the blade. The top slit (furthest from the “wiping edge” that touches the glass) is for the metal support splines. You insert one spline on each side. The next slit is for the grips of the metal arm to hold the rubber blade. One end of the second slit will have a molded partition gap. To install the rubber blade; you start by sliding the end with the partition thru the grip(s) on one end of the metal arm and proceed to slide & pass thru the remaining grips in succession until you reach the other end (keep in mind the metal splines like to slip out of their respective slits while doing this). The last grip will go past the partition and seat in the gap designed to capture the last grip and keep the blade from sliding back thru the metal arm and falling off. Pushing the grip past the partition might take some effort, but that’s how it’s designed to work. Then you install the end cap / stop on the opposite end. This also serves as another means of keeping the rubber blade from sliding off the metal arm. These were received with both rubber blades installed onto the metal arms haphazardly and (by using a pair of pliers or other tool) one of the metal grips was squeezed & bent to effectively “pinch” the rubber blade in place – ignoring the molded partition in the slit. Fortunately, nothing was damaged beyond repair, and I was able to fix the bent grips and properly install the rubber blades.
