This remote battery disconnect switch came with confusing instructions. Luckily, the wiring was intuitive and fairly straightforward. Just connect the small red and black wires to battery positive and negative respectively. Then connect one of the large black wires to the battery negative and the other to the load. Note that this switch has a latching relay. When power to the coil is removed (e.g., by disconnecting the small black or red wire), the switch retains its state. Some remote battery disconnect switches have a built-in safety lockout. When the battery voltage is above a certain value (e.g., when being charged by a car’s alternator), the push-button remote is disabled. This is a useful safety feature when the switch is used in a car. It prevents accidental power disconnect to the engine when the car’s running. I am using this remote switch as an emergency shutoff for a bow-mount trolling motor on my boat, so this feature is unnecessary. If you’re planning to use this in a car, be careful.

When it worked it worked perfectly but it burned out within 3 weeks. I used id to cut power to the starter so it really didn’t put too much strain to it but it still died. Now it won’t click on update.. I actually blew a fuse because of the electric fans. After diagnosing I found it was still working. Changing to 5 stars

I spent hours trying to install. The main issue is the lack of instructions and wiring diagrams in order to assess and overcome questions and issues. I’m about average in electrical knowledge and ability, but I couldn’t make heads or tales on how to wire in an additional switch or circuit in order to overide the possibility of accidentally switching off the computer while the vehicle is running. Also, it’s not like a garage where someone is on the same channel and I come home to an open garage. I’m in motion all over town. Is this a rolling code that can’t be duplicated? Or is it just a standard channel that operates innumerable all over? If the relay has 100 meter range, basically anything or anyone actuating within 100 meters of me while I’m driving can switch my truck off.
I would only recommend this only for someone who has a good understanding of modern vehicle wiring or someone who is willing to accept the risk of possibly being faced with a shutdown vehicle in motion.
The reason I’m so reluctant to install this is because I’ve had a shutdown in this truck caused by a failing ignition contact. Losing brakes and steering was a sobering moment that I will never forget. This kit needs to come with above average instructions and diagrams to deal with these concerns.

Remove the key ignition switch on my boat to just a push button start. Needed A way to protect the boat. If I pull to a restaurant on the water this was a great Add on and does the job perfect.

Disconnecting battery might cause problems for fuel trim and other computer related settings. I placed the solenoid ( a real old school mechanical contact) between the fuse marked “START” in the fuse box. In the off state it draws no power. In the on state it draws about 1/4 amp. No problem when the car is running. I just need to make sure if stored for long periods to turn off the relay.
Works perfectly and highly recommended. Solid state relays do not work in my application because of a 0.7 voltage drop in the closed position that makes it look open to the computer.
