This product arrived with a chipped solenoid terminal, but I Gorilla-glued it in place and moved right along. It works flawlessly.
Counting time to research at least two dozen Youtube videos, this 2002 CRV starter replacement took 1 1/2 days because I had to runt to O’Reilly’s and Home Depot to buy a breaker bar and a full set of sockets and wrenches, including metric ratchet wrenches, plus a wand trouble light and bungies.
Decades ago, I had repaired lawn mowers for Sears and worked as a line mechanic in transport refrigeration during my college years, so felt very confident by the time I began the project.
It had been 60 years ago, the last time I tore into a car engine. Loved every minute. You can do this.

I will update the review when some time goes by. It says Remanufactured on the box, but looks new. Original mitsuba was bad when brand new. Dealer replaced it, and replacement one lasted 256k miles. Now after this many years and miles, it has a slow crank on cold mornings. Decided to order this one. We’ll see how long this lasts, it does crank faster than mitsuba did. Replaced from top on CRV, one bolt was semi seized. 2.5 hour job for me. If not for the bolt, 1.5 hour no problem. Also I will rebuild the old one for a spare if this guy kicks the bucket.
10/28/2020 (seven month update) Update: still cranks strong no issues at all. Been driving less than in months and years past due to Covid but still, part is working fine.
1/12/2021 Update: Still cranks strong, no issues at all.
5/13/2021 Update: No change flawless
11/20/2021 Update: No change still going
2/18/2024 Update: No change still going
6/24/2024 Two days ago no start. Looks like after 4 years the starter is dead. Took out and replace with rebuilt original Mitsuba unit. Bench tested this unit and confirmed that its dead. Might perform an autopsy to see why it died. At the end it lasted ~30k miles and a little over 4 years.

Saved myself so much buying this piece and paying a family friend 175$ to install. Autozone wanted 350 (including an “on hand” fee before tax for the same product diff brand and I would still have to find and pay someone to install.
Standing Goats Rescue (YT) –
I purchased this cheap starter for an older Harley Davidson motorcycle that I was putting up for sale. I drove it for 8 months (using this starter) and it works far better than the $600 one from Harley! I don’t care if it’s made in China, because most of the parts on Harley’s ARE made there too! The bottom line for me is this….. it’s a great quality starter, it’s almost 10 times cheaper than the “Harley Davidson” starter, and it cranks that engine over faster and harder than the factory starter ever did!
Now, would I recommend this product to my friends or family?…..YES I ABSOLUTELY WOULD AND I HAVE ALREADY! This one is certainly deserving of 5-Stars! If I ever need another starter like this, I’ll definitely be buying it again!

Don’t buy this. It’s time consuming to install just to find out it’s a poor quality product. My car doesn’t start anymore….it lasted 3 weeks. I reached out to them to see if they would send another and they haven’t replied. I’m forced to buy another from a more reputable seller because I need my car running ASAP. Have tested all other causes and mechanic confirmed the starter is faulty.

First of all, this product was a great value and fixed the slow cranking issue entirely. The car cranks and starts far faster than it ever has in our 11 years of owning it. Big two thumbs up for that.
The installation is a little tricky as the starter is buried under the intake manifold and at the intersection of the engine and transmission. I changed mine “from the bottom”, which I would recommend. “Eric the Car Guy” on Youtube has a good video showing the process and the special bolt on the top rear of the starter that is the only difficult part of the job. I ended up trying several different combinations of sockets and small extensions until I got one that would fit between the knock sensor and the bolt. If I had to do it again, I’d probably have saved time by removing the knock sensor first and that would give a little more room behind the bolt.
If you’re able to, I would recommend ordering slightly in advance. I had to return 2 of them for broken trigger terminals before I got one that was acceptable to install (but still slightly broken). The packaging is not sufficient to protect the plastic around that terminal through the overall shipping process. (There is insulation on the car side of the connector to that terminal, so some breakage is OK.)
Good product, inherently slightly tricky install, works and starts the car very well.

Received product a year ago and was not looking forward to replacing the starter due to its location buried at the bottom of the engine bay. Could not replace it from under the car. I worked it from the top. You will have to remove the air intake assembly, intake manifold, disconnect hoses and electrical connections to create an opening for removal and installation of the starter. After replacement, I have not had any car starting issues for a year now. Very pleased this rebuilt starter is still going strong.

We ordered a separate gasket that the Amazon app said was frequently ordered by people purchasing the starter.
The starter alone doesn’t come with any gaskets for parts of the car that are taken apart to install the starter & subsequently need replacing afterward.
The separate gasket order came with 2 gaskets: 1 for the manifold that was not needed & 1 for the plenum which was needed.
