Build Quality: On the 1-10 scale, RAM’s goes to “11”. RAM simply must be at the top of their market – hands down. Solid mount. Stuff doesn’t move when gripped by the X-Grip… period. The RAM development team perfected the balance of the X-Grip’s touch points against the device, required tension, and resulting stability achieved. This mount just feels like it is WWII mil-spec – old skool brawny overspec toughness. Yet, it is simple and highly effective – no instructions needed.

Effectiveness: NOTHING about this mount gets in the way and gripped device doesn’t move. All buttons and ports are accessible. No issues with any cases you have on your phone. Gripped item stays in place if you need to access touch screen or controls.

Assembly: The RAM Universal Mount arrives in a bag separated into three pieces. Super easy assembly or take down. Spin the wing-nut which loosens the main arm. Insert the other component’s ball joint into each end of the arm. Tighten the wing-nut back up. Assembly done. It’s ready to go.

Usage Results: Excellent. It has the needed balance of just enough flexibility without sacrificing rigidity. I’ve traveled city and highway miles using an iPhone4S running both Navigon and iWitness dashcam software. Realtime highway video footage shot on iWitness at higher resolution (720p) was amazingly sharp and usable. Connecticut roads are bumpy due to harsh treatments used for snow/ice. Even so, the mount and the antishake vid abilities of the iPhone4s rendered excellent video with the RAM XGrip. How stable? Some vids actually were clear and revealed idenfiable plate numbers for cars passing in the fast lane. Not that you need that – but it was simply impressive stability.

Compatibility: Probably anything under Samsung Galaxy Note 2 size will fit nicely. The Galaxy Note 2 I bought just about exceed the X-Grip’s maximum extension and seems to be a 1/4″ too wide in the end. But you can get the next size up, or a bigger X-Grip to swap in and out with this X-Grip, like the “tablet size X-Grip”.

Il prodotto è costoso, ma la qualità dei materiali è impeccabile. Parti in plastica e in metallo danno nel complesso maneggevolezza e robustezza. Ho scelto personalmente questo prodotto perché avevo l’esigenza di una pinza che fosse in grado di accogliere un telefono spesso ( un telefono con cover/powerbank incorporata). Il sistema di snodi permette di installe il braccio in ogni posizione del veicolo. È interessante inoltre poter utilizzare la pinza con altri supporti come ad esempio quelli per bicicletta.

I purchased the Ram Mount after having some problems with other cheap mounts. I have to say it was an excellent decision. The Ram Mount attached solidly with just a twist of the suction cup base and it has stayed in place without any issues for the last six month (December through June). It has stayed secured through an incredible amount of weather changes, from freezing cold to the blistering Florida summer. The base is solid and well constructed.
However, it is the mounting arm and the X mount that really sets the Ram Mount apart. The articulated arm is an easy to use hand screw setup; loosen one hand screw, align everything the way you want it, and tighten it down. Very easy and solid. The X mount is spring loaded and fits any size phone, all the way up to a Samsung Note and iPhone 7+. It will also hold smaller phones…all with one spring loaded unit. The design is genius.
The rubber feet on the support posts are well made, very durable and hold the phone solidly in place, no matter how rough the road gets. However, my only complaint is that the rubber feet can slide a little forward when taking the phone out. Over time, you have to push them back on to make sure they don’t fall off. My wife ended up losing one; it still holds the phone tight and secure but I can’t find the lost piece. The rubber feet don’t just pop off, it happens over a period of time. I could probably solve the problem with a small drop of glue, and I am not dropping the score for it, but it was worth mentioning.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Ram Mount. In fact, I liked it so much that I purchased a second one for my wife’s car. I plan on having one of these in every car I own, the product is that good.

De hecho he comprado uno muy parecido para la tableta.
Solo tienes que vigilar al colocarlo que los topes de sujeción no presionen ningún botón.
I Bought It –
Unbiased, non-compensated review.
This mount is super sturdy when suctioned down and holds our iPhones 6&7 solidly. The grips are nice and deep to hold all sizes of devices, and the gel is sticky and soft to provide great grip on even our thin iPhones with limited side contact. The articulation is typical Ram awesomeness, and I’ve been able to position it perfectly to allow great visibility through my windshield. There is one quark that I will mention; the x-arm is great to open and grab differing sizes of devices, but once your device is mounted, the device mount pivots maybe 30 degrees both left and right. I don’t really understand if this is a result of the way the x-arms open and close, or it’s actually a feature. But it doesn’t affect anything. Highly recommend this as an introduction to Ram mounts. It will be the last mount you need and you can start building on it for other uses with all the great, interchangeable parts Ram offers.

I own a Ram X-Grip which I have used on my motorcycle for a couple of years, with a similar set-up using a shorter extension arm and (of course) a different mount on the bike. It has been a stable platform on my bike, so when I bought a new-to-me pickup truck, I decided to try this rig. Previously, I have always invested in the pricey proprietary car docks for my Motorola phones, and of course, as soon as I replace them, those docks are obsolete. No such issues with this one, and I can use it for as long as I don’t get a larger phone (I’m almost in the phablet zone as it is) and as long as it is structurally intact, which I anticipate will be a while. The suction cup, arm and X-Grip are all available separately as well, should you already have some Ram components. And with this modular construction, this set up can be modified readily using the large catalog of other Ram ball parts, making it highly adaptable to multiple uses, even to getting a larger X-Grip for my future phablet needs.
The set up is solid, and I’ve noticed no wobble even on rougher two tracks. This X-Grip is improved on my earlier one, and has no movement with a phone docked; with a phone engaged, the earlier model had some rotational play (10 degrees or so, or about an hour on a clock face) which could change the orientation of the phone when say, taking a turn on the fast side. This simply is not an issue with this version of the X-Grip, so Ram seems to have responded to the criticisms of its earlier product. Size wise, this model works well with my LG G2 in its huge-moungous Otterbox. The little rubber caps on the ends of the metal brackets do come off, and this can provide a little more clearance if necessary, but I prefer the additional “grippiness” they provide. I have on one occasion removed one accidentally on my older X-Grip, but they seem to be pretty solidly attached for the most part – I don’t think I take undue care in mounting or retrieving the phone.
The ball mounts on both ends make this quite easy to adjust – just untighten the center screw on the arm, position everything where you want it, and tighten it back down, and done. The suction cup mount is rock solid, and though I’ve only had this for week, it has held from temperatures from the 30s to the 90s, and in light offroad and highway driving.The twist-lock is one of the most solid ways of attaching to a windshield that I’ve seen. The cup mount does require a trivial bit of assembly (two self-tapping Philips head screws to mount the Ram ball), and beware, it is a bit larger than the photos make it appear. It is a quite substantial unit, partly due to its mounting mechanism. The size, modular components, and general aspect give it a kind of retro high tech look. Some might call it phugly, but I call it a highly phunctional and adaptable piece of hardware with a classic look that should serve me for years to come.
Besides the potential aesthetic objections, it is also relatively pricey (2 to 4 times as much) compared to some other mounts. My feeling is that these are high quality components, and given the great flexibility the system has for adapting to other mounts and components, price is not an issue. The price is not at all extreme, and is less than the factory car docks I mentioned earlier. Another issue that some might raise is that it will take two hands to get your phone in and out of the X-Grip. My practice is that as long as the car is moving, it stays in the dock anyway, so for me, this is a non-issue. I’ve placed it such that using both hands is not a problem.
To sum up, I highly recommend this as solution for for your car-docking needs. It is solid and adaptable, and should outlast your next few phones.

Il est super pratique, la pince est suffisamment forte pour bien maintenir le tel en place mais il est facile à mettre / enlever. La ventouse est très costaud.
Je l’utilise même de temps en temps à moto (pas avec la ventouse mais avec une boule B), ça ne bouge pas d’un poil malgré les vibrations.
