This stuff is MAGIC!!! I’ve taken my car to the car wash for 3 months and they swore I needed a whole detail ($180) with clay and blah blah blah. I sprayed this on my car and it literally melted off!!! It even got rid of a few scratches too!!

I rent Motorhomes and travel trailers. Have used many different prodiucts over some 23 years. I’m so glad I cam accross this – its simple to use and it really cuts through road tar and Bugs! It is my new GO TO for getting road tar off…

This worked amazing! I had hardened tar and asphalt on my car from having to swerve into a not-yet-completely-dry asphalt road construction site to avoid a head on collision. I have had this tar on my car for over 2 years. I’ve taken it to numerous auto body shops and auto detail shops and told they couldn’t fix it because the asphalt was too hard and tough. One shop quoted me $10k to replace the side skirts, fenders, angle grind my driver and passenger door then repaint the doors. I tried this product as a last ditch effort and it worked! I went through 3 full bottles and it took about 10-12 hrs worth of cleaning split over a weekend to get off. I’ve attached a couple before/after photos. I had tar around the entire car, these were just the worst spots.
Tips for product use: soak the area you want to clean and give it a few mins to start working. Use a microfiber cloth and get the cloth wet with the cleaning product too. You will use multiple cloths. Constant, soft scrubbing motions on the metal door will slowly break down the asphalt, but it’ll take time and a good amount of effort. For the plastic/fiberglass side skirts, the asphalt was much harder to get off. I also used a drywall putty knife to help scrape off the larger asphalt chunks, being careful to not scratch the car paint.

Best bug removal for auto . Very easy to use. Spray on let sit for a minute or two then with soap and water apply soft brush, and rub. Bugs just wash away. I use a long handle soft brush. Sad to see this is no longer made.

This stuff actually works better than anything else I’ve tried. Follow directions and even baked-on bugs don’t require extreme elbow grease. Most just wipe off. The label warnings worry me, so Im rinsing with lots of water afterward.

Tried Rain-X for the first time and honestly didn’t expect much, but it worked way better than I thought. I had tree sap all over my car and this actually helped clean it off pretty easily.

Unfortunately, I did spray it directly on, on my motorcycle’s plastic windscreen and the front painted plastic cowling and headlight where the bug mung gathers, which the directions SAID I was supposed to do. Says it’s fine for painted surfaces, yada yada yada, and to leave it sit for a minute before starting to wipe it off. BAD ADVICE.
The problem? Ok, it says DO NOT get it on any rubber (because it will eat into it and destroy it). But it’s actually more like fine print, not in BOLD TEXT, so that little tidbit of info is easy to miss because of this. Really REALLY stupid, since there’s so much rubber and rubber coated stuff on our vehicles these days.
So, first problem: my windscreen has a rubber strip along the bottom, so it’s almost impossible to spray it on the windscreen but somehow not get any on that rubber, let alone let it soak for a minute without it dripping down onto it. But I was careful, only sprayed it on lightly, and kept wiping off the drips running down the screen to keep it from the rubber. USE A MICROFIBER CLOTH, by the way! Especially on plastic or paint!
The far worse problem is that I sprayed it on that painted cowling. My front fender is also painted plastic and the stuff I sprayed on the cowling dripped onto that fender. Unconcerned about that because they tell us it’s fine, I took my time with the cloth, got all the bug goo off the screen and cowling, and THEN I got to the drips on the fender. Which had somehow sorta burned into the paint, and it’s now a bit discolored where that drip streak was sitting for 15 minutes. Furious? Yes. Yes, I am FURIOUS!
So, what I discovered from all this is that it’s ABSOLUTELY unnecessary to spray it on, let alone to leave it soak for a minute. Let alone that IT’S THE LAST FRIGGIN THING YOU SHOULD DO IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Spray it right onto your microfiber cloth and none of this will happen to you. You don’t even need to use very much, and it cleans all the crud off just fine this way, period. And I was surprised to find out that it just rinses right out of the cloth, along with the crud, so it’s ready to go the next time I use it. I figured I’d have to throw the cloth out. I mean, it’s RAIN-X. But I’m glad that it does wash right out.
They owe me a new damned fender though. The massive incompetence that these instructions do not make these things VERY CLEAR is negligent in the extreme. 😡

With commuting on the interstate all the time, our cars have bugs all over them in the summertime. I was hoping this Rain-X Bug remover would work. I sprayed it on the car and let it sit for 10-15mins and it still took significant elbow grease to remove some of the bugs along with a wet rag and car washing soap. I did it a second time after rinsing it all off and it seemed to work a bit better but still required some force to remove the bugs and they were never all gone. I like having this product to use while washing my car, but it only seems to work halfway. I really like rain-x products, so it is a bit disappointing. Overall, I will keep using it in my car washing regimen because it is better than nothing and at least takes some of the bugs off.

This product works great on bugs. I usually spray it on and let it almost dry and then spray another coat on top and give it a scrub with a medium soft scrub brush. I use it on my truck chrome grill and bumper as well as on my motorcycle fairing.
