Obviously, without a lot of equipment or lots of time and some expense I cannot speak to the true effectiveness of this filter
However, I can talk about its outer construction and how it installs
First off, the rough coating is fantastic, makes it very easy to install. The label detracts from this though, it is smack dab in the center and covers half the circumference, it would be better if the label were etched into the filter or left off altogether (Who the hell needs a label anyways?)
Anyways, it installed easily, and the grip was fantastic. Price is right as well, on-par with any other premium filter from Wix or Delco

Very happy with these filters. I’ve used this exact one on my 2000 GMC Yukon Denali for 3 oil changes now. I used the Purolator Boss brand before on previous cars, and love these premium filters. I’m not a mechanic, but I appreciate the quality difference between these and the $3 NAPA filters.
Update: just ordered my 9th filter for the same truck. They seem to have gotten more expensive, but I still stand by these filters.

Purolator PBL24011 Boss Premium Oil Filter. Been using this filter for a number or years now and I am very satisfied/no complaints! I do my research and try to buy premium on all “critical” parts simply because I need reliability! I use this with 100% synthetic oil. Vehicle is a V6 and >25 years old. Does Not burn oil and compression is high. A vehicle is ultimately a tool. Look after your tools and they will look after you for a long time! I suggest you Look at >Whip City Wrencher for really good info and a look inside of this and other filters.

For me, Purolator One oil filters are the least expensive with synthetic media. This filter has the quality I want at a fair price. Also, I use a longer filter than recommended in the hope that it will five me more filtering and better oil pressure.

Item came in a bubble wrap envelope. Box was VERY beat up. Not too impressed! Should have been in a small box. Filter was ok, only scuffed a little

I have studied filters and oils for quite a few years. This filter is definitely a quality piece…you’ll see that the minute you open the box. Based on the specifications listed by Purolator, this is a pretty strong performer. It has a synthetic media, decent filtration and strong case for increased pressure capacity. It also has a high dirt-holding capacity at 27grams for long oil change intervals. With comparable performance to other highly regarded brands, and a slightly better price point, this filter should be a no-brainer.
One thing though, the box holding the filter was pretty beat up; however, the filter itself was intact.

Purolator oil filter great quality will always use them. The shipping took 3 1/2 weeks they must of hand made it. Not Amazons fault but wow I went to my local hardware store and bought one so my oil could be changed so I guess I will have a filter for my next oil change

I did some research on oil filters and the Purolator PureOne series is considered to be one of the best available. Here’s a quote from a site in which many different oil filters are cut open and analyzed:
“This is an interesting filter design made by Purolator. Most of the construction of the Pure One is the same as the Purolator Premium Plus. The big difference is the filter element itself. It has a dense paper/fiber filter element that can filter very small particles. The result of this is cleaner oil exiting the element, but more oil restriction. Purolator addressed this by adding more filter material (more and deeper pleats). After seeing one of these filters cut open, I am apprehensive about this filter. It seems to have so many pleats that it is almost a solid chunk of filter element. It seems like it would end up restricting the flow, more than anything. Purolator has plenty of data on the filtration abilities of this filter and I don’t doubt it, but they have no flow data. Even so, I don’t see any major problems with this filter. It also sports a silicone anti-drainback valve and a PTFE treated nitrile rubber gasket.”
Apparently, Purolator is one of the few manufacturers making their products in the United States. Here’s a quote from the company website: “Manufacturing of automotive spin on filters continues in Salt Lake City, UT and Fayetteville, NC.”
The entire outside of the filter (except for the label) is covered in a course texture so that you can better handle the filter with oily hands. The price is great after rebate (when available) and the rebates come super quick.
I use the PL24011 on my 1996 Silverado with a 5.7L V8 and on a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a 3.1L V6. So far I haven’t had any issues.
