Best filter for My Bucks. Been using Purolator for Years and I’m an Old Gear Head.
J.Hall –
I have never had a problem with the filter and am confident I won’t running it.

Likely, these are best filters that you can use for your average steet / performance car, period. I have been using them for about 15 years on all vehicles. I read a number of reports on Oil Filters that were performed by laboratories at the time and for roughly 2x the money, you can get 5 to 10 times the filtering capability. I am interested in; engine protection. For a general use vehicle, this filter is one of the best you can buy.
For a high performance vehicle, they make an elevated version of this filter called a “Boss”. The Boss version competes with some very expensive Oil Filters such as the ones offered by Ford Motorsports.
Reference: I used to change the oil every 3,000 miles. However, lately I have been changing the oil every 5,000 miles. I use Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic in most vehicles, or the Valvoline Fully Synthetic in a couple of others which prefer it. Some of my vehicles which are 30 years old, have 300,000+ miles on the original motor (not rebuilt). The 200,000+ mile vehicles, which have all benefited from high quality synthetic oils, changed without failure at specific intervals. Some of the vehicles are Corvettes or Mustangs which I take to the drag strip. Some are big block Fords or Chevy’s that take to mud bogs. Those get hammered on.
Unless the day comes when I see one of these Oil Filters turn concave shape from excessive abuse then I will always use them. Highly recommend.

Purolator is a brand I have trusted for 50 years . I’m happy with my purchase!

Perfect fit for my 122 1966 Volvo
JD –
Not the best oil filter I’ve bought but did not clog and worked great until next oil change. Good value. Hard to remove after worn.
Rod in Forfar –
This is the one which claims to fit almost anything, right? I never could use it on a Kubota or an Iseki tractor. The thread was right but the size was wrong.

I can’t prove the filter works well without sending oil samples to a lab. I have been using the Purolator filter for several years, without any engine failure or apparent excessive wear. The inside of my engine appears to be sludge free. That is perhaps because I keep the oil changed with quality oil.
I would hasten to add, my old 1966 Volkswagen Beetle did not even have an oil filter, and it ran forever.
The Purolator filter seems to be working for me, so I will continue to use them.

Purolater filters have always been a dependable brand that you can count on for good service for your motor. I have used these since the 80’s . You used to be able to find them in a local motor parts store, but they are harder to find these days. I end up ordering 4 or 5 at a time, just so I don’t run out. I keep this model around for my older Jeep with the 4.0 liter straight 6. They keep that oil clean. Not to bad to get off if you just hand tighten. Can’t go wrong with these. Made in USA
