My boyfriend told me he needed some more microfiber towels so that he can wash and polish his antique vehicles. He liked that these 16” X 16” Hoplet Professional Microfiber Detailing Towels are bigger than the 12 X 12″ ones he’s used to buying in a Big Box store that are very flimsy and practically throwaway rags once used. The Hoplets are super-soft with long fibers, which make them so impressively ultra thick because they are 1300 GSM. For reference, 350 GSM (grams per square meter) is good for household cleaning and picking up debris. The fabric composition at the bottom of the product page and package sheet lists 85% Polyester, 15% Polyamide. My boyfriend looked like a kid in a candy store when I gave him the thick pile of 3 that he took with him to wash and dry his antique truck. In the meantime, I did some research and continued taking photos. Good microfiber towels should contain 15 – 20% polyamide. The more polyamide, the more durable. Also, these towels should not ravel because they are edged with a coral-red trim that is well-stitched.
I decided to test how ultra-absorbent these towels are. I filled a 4-cup, 32 oz., 946 ml. Pyrex and poured the water into my wash tub. I pressed the folded Hoplet into the tub, and it amazingly soaked up all of the water and was pretty heavy. The product page claims it can absorb 1200 ml. I then twisted it several times and photographed the resulting water, which shows you should probably wash these Hoplets ahead of time, if that matters to you. The instructions say to wash at a normal temperature (40° below), don’t use bleach or fabric softener, tumble dry at a low heat, and do not iron.
By the time my boyfriend finished using his sub-par microfiber towels to wash his truck in the shade and drove it into the garage to dry it out of the gradual sunshine, the low humidity didn’t leave many water droplets for a Hoplet towel to wipe dry (video). He was definitely also pleased with the soft polishing capability and will only use these for drying and polishing. They are better than one of our bath towels he used prior. Yesterday, I decided it was time to give our cars a good wash. I didn’t want to spend too much time on it, so I opted for a quick wash. First, I covered each car with a thick layer of foam, making sure every nook and cranny was well-coated. After letting the foam sit for a bit, I thoroughly rinsed it off, watching the grime and dirt wash away.
To prevent any water spots from forming, I used my new Hoplet Professional Microfiber Detailing Towels. These towels are incredibly thick, with a 1300GSM rating, making them perfect for the job. As I dried the cars, I was impressed by how well they worked. The towels absorbed the water quickly and efficiently, leaving no streaks or marks on the finish. It was a pleasure to see the cars looking so pristine and spotless after such a straightforward wash. The whole process didn’t take long, but the results were certainly worth it. I’m really happy with how the Hoplet towels performed—they made drying the cars a breeze and ensured a flawless finish.
Side note, ALWAYS wash your towels first and mark them for their intended use! I mark my towels e.g. Exterior body, engine, interior cleaning, plastic resto etc. I also have towel color specific for each job to lesson the confusion… did I use this on the engine or tires etc.

If you don’t want spots on your freshly washed car, you have to dry it. And rubbing out potential mineral spots will make a huge difference, reveling a deep lustre. (I have a black car.) These are the best car towels I’ve used. They are highly absorbent. I only used two to dry my large car. I think 3 will dry my big Suburban. These are inexpensive for what you get and how well they work.

These microfiber detailing towels are fantastic! The 1300GSM thickness makes them ultra-absorbent, which is perfect for drying my car after a wash. I love how soft they are; they don’t scratch the surface at all. I remember using thinner towels in the past and being frustrated with streaks, but these do a great job of leaving everything spotless. They’re easy to wash and maintain too. If you want high-quality towels for detailing, I definitely recommend giving these a try!

I detail my car almost every week, and so I am always on the lookout for things that make the process easier. These detailing towels are a welcome addition to that!
For drying my car after a wash, I have always just used the ubiquitous yellow Costco towels, since they’re cheap. But these towels are way more absorbent! It usually takes me 4 of the yellow towels to dry my car, one for the hood and roof, one for each side, and one for the back and door jambs. But I can reasonably dry my entire car with a single pass of one of these towels! And then I go to rinse the towel out with my pressure washer, and it just keeps soaking up the water! The amount of water that one of these towels holds is truly mind blowing!
The towels are very soft, with a soft edge, so I am not worried about scratching my paint. And they remove all the water easily without leaving any streaks!
These are now a permanent addition to my detailing kit!
