I’d like to give it 4 stars, but I’ll give it 5. I think the quality is excellent and have little doubt that it will perform and that I can get the longevity I’m hoping for from it. The reason for the possible 4 stars is as everyone has said, it comes with no instruction sheet at all on what needs to be taken off the old one and reused on the new one. I had read everyone’s comments about that and I thought it’d be no trouble, and that it would be obvious but for some reason it wasn’t.
I got it on with no issues other than of course some steering fluid here and there, but without any problems. Of course, with the Kia, and if you want to replace the belt, you have to drop the other 2, that are in front of it, which I did, and put new belts on.
I also purchased from Amazon a new reservoir for $20 of which I’m glad I did, just some cheap insurance while going through all this. Apparently there’s even a screen inside which you don’t realize, so it’s better safe than sorry so.ypu have good flow. I started the bleeding process, turning the wheel back-and-forth 10 times each way. I probably went too quickly but that wasn’t my initial problem, but I did read that you should do it slowly and with no power, no engine on and of course, with both wheels off the ground. Turn it back-and-forth slowly to full lock and not holding it there any more than a second or 2, and then back slowly the other way. I think I was causing turbulence by going fast, and I’d see a bubble now and then, which I think I really caused. Now of course, repeat the process slowly with the engine running, still having the wheels off the ground.
I took it off the Jack stands and took it for a ride. There was no squealing or shimmying when it started or when I turned the wheel when it was cold like on the previous, original one, but it was very stiff, almost as if I didn’t have power steering at all at slow speeds. It was fine at regular driving speed. I tested it for about a mile, but at slow speeds, turning into the drive or the garage, it was as if there was no power steering at all. I had to fight it to get it in.
Before returning it, I contacted “A-Premium’s” chat through their website, and I do give them 5 stars for that and their support. I gave them the model I purchased and the VIN number of the car to try and make sure I had the right one. I asked if they had an instruction sheet showing what to take off from the old pump and use on the new and if I was missing something. I thought I’d used everything. They got back with me later after that day and told me, I did have the right model, but there was no sheet available unfortunately.
After bleeding, some more and testing, it was the same thing. I was just about to order from Kia, a brand new one for 3 hundred dollars, but thankfully after praying about it, thinking about it, googling etc, I looked at the old one, one more time. I saw a small, piston type thing inside of the control port, where the control wire is threaded into. I just assumed the other one had it as well, and that it was a fixed piston and not removable. I figured, why not give it a try and see if it comes out. I took a small pair of needle nose pliars and to my surprise, it pulled right out and that was the whole issue. I was able to open the control port connection again without losing hardly any fluid. I took the spring back out which goes inside that port that had been in the old one and sure enough, there was no piston in the new one. I cleaned the piston a bit with brake cleaner and put the piston quickly in the new pump, along with the spring, the small end going over the piston as it had been in the old one and was able to thread the control connection back on, tightening it up. Thankfully, it’s like new again. If they just had a little sheet showing what to remove, it would have saved everyone so much time and hassle and I believe less returns as well. As memory serves me, I think the piston and spring, along with the control wiring plug for it was all that I had to reuse, but I just missed seeing the obvious. Even a tiny little sheet, just a couple pictures, even one picture would have made all the difference. Thankfully, it’s done and I’m back on the road again and it’s driving like new. Thank you “A-Premium,” for a quality product but please think about putting something inside in the future. Hopefully, this helps anyone preparing to do this relatively simple job. It just takes a little bit of time. Please see my pictures of the piston I’m talking about. I hope this helps. I really have no doubt on the construction of the pump, it really seems like a good one and it drives again like new.

It works I no longer have any problems with my power steering pump, it was really hard to turn the steering wheel but after I installed the new one the car feels like new, just make sure you use the spring and Valve from the old pump, use everything from the old pump on the new one.

Great looking parts and seem to be well made in production. Exact match to 2010 Kia soul 2.0 OE original power steering pump. I honestly can’t say anything negative at this time about the A-Premium products. None of them have failed yet. I’ve installed brake callipers , alternators, rear hatch back gas lift door supports and they all continue to function well. I’ll update later in time as to the endurance. Each of the items are replica’s of the factory parts I remove.

The power steering pump worked just fine. No problems what so ever but there were no instructions no list of parts you needed to reuse off of the old pump. Make sure you use the copper washers and when you take power steering sensor off the pump keep the sensor the spring and the little valve body from the old pump.
