The filter looks like it is made well enough as far as materials. However, it will not fit in the holding tray for the Honda CR-V without modification. Specifically, according the the airflow arrow on the side of the filter, the filter “lips” are on the wrong side to insert into the tray. So, I cut the fabric on the ends to accommodate this. Also, the rigid end caps of the filter are slightly too long and you have to trim them with a utility knife. Once finally installed, it appears like it will work. So, is the airflow arrow on the side of the filter just pointing in the wrong direction? I have no idea. But I shouldn’t have to guess, or to modify a new filter, which could now possibly be pointing the wrong direction.

The Canadian 99 Civic DX’s and similar lower end models have the slot for a cabin air filter (CAF) but Honda never placed them in. This results in my picture above which will throw pine needles and leafs out of your vents and into you and your passengers faces. I came across a forum which stated the 99 CRVs have the same slot but did get the CAF put into them. The forum said you need a plastic assembly to hold the filter this is false. I’ve had the filter in since February and haven’t heard a noise, smelt fumes or had a leaf fly at me. Well worth the $20.

YES. If you have a 1999 Honda Civic EX and your car smells awful and you wonder if there’s an air filter.
You have found the exact replacement part. Abit of a hassle to remove the glovebox, the 1 metal bracket behind it to access the glovebox – oh dont’ forget about the small nut near the footwell holding onto the metal bracket. unclip the plastic housing cover at the bottom then push the cover up in the direction of top of dash, the top of cover should pop off. Probably need to vacuum whatever is in the filter housing location and get rid of old filter – mine was ‘alive’.

Bought this for 99 CRV. When airflow arrows are matched, the thin filter lip is oriented on the opposite side of the housing tabs obviously meant to receive it. I was able to force it into place by making some slits in the filter.
