My mechanic told me. This set is a good quality set with reasonable price. No vibration or any noise when braked

I’ve been using these front and rear on a Honda Odyssey for 2 years 40,000 miles now and I couldn’t be happier. You will feel a slight pulse during hard braking, but I no longer get violent shaking when hard braking and I’ve been all over the mountains in the past few years in an overloaded van. Make sure you do the brake in procedure on these pads. Makes a big difference.

I installed these on my 2012 Honda Odyssey after putting up with vibration problems for 3-1/2 years. The local Colorado Springs Honda dealer could not find a problem for 3 years then informed me that I have 4 warped rotors caused by our driving habits. We currently have 4 vehicles and have owned several others over the years and this is the first vehicle that our driving habits have warped rotors. I researched on line and finding that this is a common issue with the Odyssey, also found several suggestions on installing these brake up-grade kits. The Honda dealer quoted me $300.00 to turn the rotors. I purchased the kits to replace 4 rotors and new pads for $289.00. The kits came complete with everything and it took a couple of hours to install. I followed the instructions to ‘bed’ the new rotors. We have driven 300 miles and it stops great. NO VIBRATIONS. I will follow up at 10,000 miles but I am happy. Even if the vibration comes bake (due to undersized brakes, not driving habits), I had the original rotors turned for 15.00 and I can install them.

2016 era Honda Odyssey’s are known to be tough on their brakes. It’s not unusual to go only 20,000 miles before rotors warp with plenty of life left on the pads.

So I decided to step up to Power Stop brakes based on their marketing. Even though I’ve replaced many pads and rotors on many different cars over the past 30 years, for this installation, I followed their directions step by step, including the break-in procedure. The break-in was done over a few miles, and fortunately since I live in a rural area, I could do the procedure as specified. As I said, the break-in procedure was over a distance of a few miles, and by the time I returned home, I could feel the start of brake pulsations. After about 15,000 miles they were so bad I replaced the rotors with rotors from the local auto parts store, which lasted much longer.

I’m a hobbyist car enthusiast. I’ve worked on a number of cars and like to turn the wrenches when needed. I have avoided learning how to do brakes my entire life. I always left it up to the professionals because any mistake with brakes is a BIG mistake. Well, after suffering many years of terrible factory brakes on my 2014 Honda Odyssey I decided it was time to fix these awful things, upgrade the set, and do it myself to save hundreds of dollars. After watching a number of videos I realized that replacing the rotors and pads is a VERY easy job for anyone with a decent tool chest and basic auto knowledge. This was my first time replacing pads and rotors, it took me 4 hours from unpacking the box to final bedding in of the pads. The first wheel took the longest as I took my time and made sure I was doing everything perfectly. The second wheel took half the time since I was now a certified brake installer! Seriously, brakes are so easy to replace!!

I now have a few hundred miles on these upgraded front brakes. I’ve had the opportunity to use them well and hard driving around SoCal. The Odyssey stops much better than it ever had before and I have yet to feel any brake wobble or stuttering that plagues these Honda Odysseys! We shall see how they do after a few thousand miles, but so far I am VERY happy.

A few notes about my experience with this kit-

-The supplied directions are written well but they are NOT full of guidance pictures. You really need to watch a video or two to familiarize yourself with the process of replacing pads and rotors on your vehicle.

-The stainless steel brake pad slider clips included with the kit are different than the factory clips. The supplied clips have an extra tab which I believe is there to act as a retainer tab against the back of the brake pads. These supplied clips make it nearly impossible to install a brake pad in the normal way. There is nothing wrong with the factory clips, simply remove them, clean with a soft wire brush and brake cleaner, then reuse. If you do use the supplied clips you will be scratching your head and cursing for twenty minutes as you try to figure out how in the world can a brake pad fit in there!. The factory clips allow you to simply slide in a pad from the outside, like normal.
*To use the included clips I believe you need to install the pads into the caliper mounting bracket BEFORE reinstalling the bracket over the rotor. Typically you reinstall the caliper bracket on the car and then install the pads. Using the included clips will make it impossible to easily remove and replace pads in the future. You will be forced to remove the caliper bracket from the car in order to replace the pads.* If I’m wrong here, please do inform me!

-Clean everything well, buy enough brake cleaner. These are brakes, everything should be cleaned throughly before lubing and reassembling. Clean the new rotors thoroughly, front and back!

-You don’t need a bungee cord to hold the brake caliper up and out of the way. A bent wire clothes hanger works just fine.

-Brake lubrication: The kit includes a packet of brake lube. The lube is used for re-lubing the 4 sliding pins, a little on the end of each pad, and a little on the back of the pad that sits against the caliper pistons. You need more lube than is supplied, especially for the slider pins (the proper function of these pins ensures even pad wear) . Your local auto parts store sells little packs for a few bucks….buy some! Do not get lube on the face of the pads or on the rotors!

-Brake pads: My factory pads on the piston side of the caliper came with an added metal plate that clips over the back of the pad. (The pad a has a small metal back plate and then a larger one over the top.) This metal plate protects the back of the pad from the force of the pistons, and helps to spread the pressure evenly. The pads in this kit include a small metal backing plate on the back of each pad. The factory backing plate is much larger and simply unclips off the old pad. After watching a few videos I chose to reuse the factory backing plate and install it over the new pad and new backing plate. I decided to do it just like the factory.

-Brake pad spreading springs: (Remember I decided to use the factory brake pad sliding clips ) New springs are included in the kit, which are the same as the factory springs. These little monsters do a great job of spreading the pads apart, keeping them from rubbing on the rotor when not engaged. I could hear these little buggers laughing at me every time they ejected the brake pads from the caliper mounting bracket. Hint- Once you install the springs you must hold the pads together in place with one hand while sliding the caliper over the top. Trust me, don’t let go! If I had used the supplied brake pad slider clips it would have not allowed the pads to be ejected.

Once I cursed myself a few times, changed the supplied slider clips back to factory clips, and finished the first wheel, the second wheel was an absolute breeze! I will NEVER pay to have my brakes done again. Now that I have accomplished this job I figure future brakes jobs will take me less than 2 hours to replace a pair of rotors and pads. Just replacing pads will be a snap!

This is an update after almost 2 Years.

The rotor is not a good fit for 2011 Odyssey. Very noisy, brakes locking up, front wheels really heating up and exessive front tire wear.

These were replacement for stock rotors that warped after about 20k miles.

Great product. This was the first real solution to the 2012 Honda Odyssey poorly designed OEM brakes. The original rotors vibrated ridiculously after only about 10k-15k miles. Replacement brakes had the same issue. I then tried the power stop slotted rotors and pads and this took care of the problem (third times a charm I guess). Sad that Honda didn’t take responsibility for their poor design on the brakes. I’m on my second set of power stop brakes and rotors for the front and rear, and will never install anything else. The first set of power stop lasted around 40,000 miles and never vibrated/warped like the originals did after only about 10k-15k. One side note: the power stop has a very specific break in procedure. I find it best to break them in the evening when there isn’t traffic on the road to disrupt the procedure.
