The door actuator was exactly like the one I took out,and easy to replace

ORIGINAL ISSUE: Door lock motor not working on my original. Door locked but would not unlock. Door handle worked no issues and I had to manually unlock from inside. Motor made a whining noise when unlocking with remote or buttons on d

INITIAL REVIEW: When I removed from the box it matched my service manual with no issues and mechanically it was working ok in my hand other than the Motor I could not test. It did feel a little lighter. It is missing the seal around the door latch area.

THE SWITCH: Pulled the door apart and then took the old out and placed the new one in. Installation went without any issues. Felt everything was good and tested with the door open no issues. Unlock / Lock now working as intended. Closed the latch with door open it worked with both handles. Then I closed the door only to find I could not open it. I thought the lock was acting up again. I could see it unlock and lock inside but it would not open. Yes I made sure child lock was disabled.

DIAGNOSIS: I could tell this Actuator felt lighter around the latch mechanism. Pulled them both out to compare and original definitely felt heavier. Its annoying to spend money, my time, and then have to return it later only to get the same again. I only needed the motor and figured Ill eat the cost. Pulled original and new apart. The original definitely had much tougher metal components that felt more weighted than the new. The latch mechanism felt cheaper and the springs felt weak. I pulled the motor, connector, and spiral gear and swapped to my old one. I did try putting them both back together but the lighter metal on the new one kept falling apart and the spring in the latch really felt weak compared to the old. The internal bracket going to the latch looked as if was flexing slightly and not putting enough pressure on the latch release to work properly.

FINAL: Do not recommend. Maybe I got a bad one but it really felt inferior to the original. But I guess you get what you pay for except it had 2 basic tasks and it failed out of box with one of them. I recommend paying the extra for original or waste your time like I did swapping parts.

The part fits perfectly. Once you are able to get the old part out, the old part has a cover that goes over the top. You’ll just need to reuse that part. But otherwise, it looks just like the old part that came out.

    So far, so good.

  4. Eric

Had to replace 3 out of my 4 door actuators for my 2010 Acura TSX. I wasn’t about to spend 230 bucks a piece for the OEM products for a 14 year old car. This a great alternative product to use especially if your on a budget. One of door actuators I ordered did come defective but don’t worry, you can get a replacement with no charge. Now all my doors lock and unlock with the key fob with no issues

  5. A real human

This works great in my vehicle after replacing. Kind of a pain to do but not the products fault. I do find it makes a mechanical sound when unlocking/locking which sounds differently than normal. Not sure why or maybe I installed incorrectly. Overall worth doing it yourself with this.

  6. Amazon Customer

Fit and performed like original equipment, very pleased. Reviews are to be about product only and I’m a DIY person, but make sure the installation is within your skill set. Not a negative product comment just a FYI from a fellow DIY.

  7. Amazon Customer

Part as described functions as intended

  8. Daniel

It works and fits in my 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD. It doesn’t come with the little face plate protector for the wire rods that connect to the door handle. You’ll have to salvage that part off your existing actuator so I knocked a star off for that. Other than that they have been working for that past month with no problem. Fairly easy to install. Too maybe 30-45 mins to install. I’ll update this to see how long they last, assume that if I haven’t added an update that’s because they’re still working, 4/3/21
