This kit has NEARLY all the seals required to rebuild the steering gearbox. However, it is missing the o-ring for the valve spool. It is the smallest o-ring depicted in the image, down and to the right of the adjuster lock nut. I requested a replacement item assuming it was a mistake. However, the replacement kit is also missing the same o-ring. I already have the other parts installed on my gearbox, otherwise I would return this kit and purchase a complete one.

the input shaft seal in this kit will not fit a 97 jeep wrangler’s steering box. you half to order part #8525 to get the right one but all the other seals are good. no roller bearings in this kit and all the seals in this kit are not as thick as the old ones

I bought this to fix a steering oil leak for my 2000 xj.
The kit is well-built and it’s best to use some silicon/rtv in areas where oil needs to be secured.
This is really good, your mechanic will advise you on how rebuild your steering box.

Had everything to fix my leak

Got the leaking steering box in my 2000 Astro van all sealed up and back to work. I didn’t use every seal this kit contained, Some appear to be extra to cover other models of steering gear and some I just didn’t see the need to replace as they are internal and I didn’t need to take the gear box apart that far. To Change the output shaft seal you will need to remove the pitman arm. this is best done with a pitmarm puller and an impact gun. The puller can be purchased inexpensively or rented for free from most autoparts stores. After you remove the pitman arm you will also need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the aluminum cap on the top and remove the cap and steering shaft. there is one internal seal and one external seal with a snap ring and washer in between. The input shaft seal is what was leaking on this box, that requires you to loosen the large Jamb nut and remove the ring with 2 holes from the front that goes over the seal. After loosening the jamb nut take note of how tight the ring is so you can reassemble properly. I used a sheet metal screw to remove seal and then reassembled. After a few weeks I still have no leaks! Its also a good time to check the play in your steering gear box while its off the vehicle and apart. I turned the adjusting screw a little over a full turn to get the slop out of the steering, don’t go too far or it will have tight spot. If it gets a tight spot back it off.
