Overall, I’m very happy with this phone holder for our Outback. I think the seller name, Customish, is fully appropriate; the actual magnetic piece holding the phone is from Lisen. This part of the unit is shipped in the Lisen box, with their packaging. I think this was a great choice, as their magnet holds my phone so much better than my previous Belkin unit. The magnet is stronger and the phone is not falling, even if I accidently bump into it, which happened with my Belkin unit. The piece that is important is the 3D printed base that hooks into the Lisen magnetic holder. The 3D printed piece fits the ball joint VERY tightly; I had to lean onto the pieces to get them to fit together. While it’s difficult, it’s also fantastic to know it will not budge or wiggle. The 3D printed part then snaps into the air vent next to the center console display. Again, it’s a TIGHT fit. Again, comparing it to my Belkin unit which fell and wiggle and rattled, the Customish unit does not budge. I had to force it in, which was less than ideal, but it isn’t falling or shaking. Air can still flow freely from the vent, which we love. The only negative is that I don’t think I could get the sucker out if I tried. If we ever sell the car, the unit will have to go with it.
Outside of the tight fitment, it’s exactly what I wanted and needed. Just wish I could remove it, if I needed to.

The fit on the vent is cool, but I have a few issues with this product
First, it broke immediately when installing. I received a replacement a few days later. I think the 3D printed pieces are just too brittle to reliably flex, and I worry that over time they’ll all break as you pull it on/off your car.
Second, it’s 3D printed which is fine for practical use but it’s not as refined looking as cast plastic, and the two I had varied a bit in terms of fit, finish, and I could tell a difference using knobs and screws between the two units. It feels like a prototype more than a finished product.
Third, it positions the phone a bit high compared to your dash. It sticks up into the middle of your vision over the hood which I find pretty annoying.
Overall I think the hood vent mount is cool but the finish and execution could be better. This version doesn’t seem durable either. I give it credit for a new mount design that custom fits my car, but I think I’d rather have the sticky type which hugs your dash and hangs down in front of the vent.

I’ve got a 2023 Outback and this is a terrific phone holder. It clips onto the vent and is rock solid. The phone drops right in, with no adjustments. Highly recommended.

First, the bottom holder does snap in as advertised and doesn’t interfere with my vent directional tab. It was very easy to get the bottom part of the holder in place, and was also very easy to get the actual holder to fit in the ball socket and screw it down. However, the phone holder doesn’t actually hold my phone. And it doesn’t hold my husband’s phone, either. I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy zFlip and tried to use it opened, but there wasn’t enough depth for my phone to sit in. My husband’s Apple iPhone was too wide for it to hold safely … though the holder did unscrew quite a bit, it wasn’t wide enough to be able to securely hold the phone without significant wobble. Plus, who wants to sit in your car and spend time screwing/unscrewing the knob just to seat your phone in a cradle that’s too small and feels unsteady. I expected a spring to adjust the holder and some silicone or something to hold my phone securely, but I got rigid plastic that is annoyingly unforgiving. And now I’m more annoyed because I can’t get the thing out of my vent.

I have a 2022 Subaru Outback and use an iPhone 14 Pro. Before giving up on trying to find a product that would reliably hold my phone while in the car, I tried 3 different phone holders. They either slipped off the dash, the suction cups failed, or I’d have to adjust the tension on the part that holds the phone every time I put the phone in or out. But, this one is AMAZING!
This phone holder fits in the vent so perfectly that it doesn’t move around but still lets the heat or A/C come out of the vent. The knob that adjusts the area that holds the phone has to be adjusted once and, from that time on, you simply slip the phone in and out from the top. The fit of the “ball and socket” joint is firm and doesn’t flop forward from the weight of the phone. Although I haven’t tested it with any other phones, it appears the width adjustment is wide enough to accommodate all sizes and types of phones.
The only negative thing I can say is that the instructions provided a 3D barcode to connect to a video with installation instructions. Unfortunately, the wrong one was included (as I recall, it was for different years of Subaru Outback’s and a model that sits in the cup holder). But, I was able to easily figure it out by watching one of the videos that’s included with the product listing on Amazon. Once I watched the video, it took me no more than two minutes to get it all set up.
I took a photo of the holder installed in my car, but it’s hard to see against the black dashboard. I included it with this review in case it might help someone.
If you’re looking for a reliable, reasonably priced, easy-to-install product to hold your phone in the car, order this one. I think you’ll be as happy as I am.
