Worked great for one month and now the return date has passed.
Not great. Buy this where you can return the product if it fails.

    Good products

Clearly the gold-standard of converting from points to electronic. Easy-to-install, and stone-simple. Never adjust points again.

  5. CindyP

    easy to install, works great!

  6. The TR6 guy

This product was defective strate ourt of the box, installed in my car tried several attemp to tune the car engine without success.

  7. Paulie Pepper

I had a little sputter in my TR6. Messed about with different things and finally decided to change the electronic ignition component. That did the trick! Easy fix!

  8. Kindle Customer

Points seemed to be adjusted OK but you could feel ignition break down at high RPM. Installed this kit, running perfect now.

Drove 1974 tr6 into garage, installed a Pertronix Coil and LU166a ignitor, and ran a dedicated 12v to the coil, per instructions. Wouldn’t start. Contacted Pertronix who sent a comprehensive troubleshooting chart. Checked coil…good. Bench tested ignitor. BAD. I had it a couple of months while I worked through the project, so my ’30 day return’ expired. Pertronix has a “30 MONTH WARRANTY” on their website, but wouldn’t honor it. Per their site, it must be returned to the retailer who then has to return it to Pertronix for testing before they will do anything. IN OTHER WORDS, there is NO WARRANTY!!! Do not recommend!!!

This points replacement system is not rocket science. Followed instructions and it went well until the step to press on the plastic collar over the points cam. It would not slide down far enough to get the rotor back on, no matter how hard I pressed with both thumbs. I ended up putting a socket over it and tapping gently with a small hammer and it went on, correctly aligned with the six flats on the cam. I put the rotor on and the cap on and set the distributor back to the original timing position.

The engine would not run, it was backfiring and sputtering. I pulled the plugs out (to remove compression) and connected a timing light and cranked the engine with the starter while observing the timing light and the timing was so far off, it was nowhere near the marks. No amount of distributor rotation adjustment would get it in range. I messed with this for hours and made zero progress. It was like the trigger point was occurring 90 degrees from the correct crankshaft position.

I put the points back in and set the gap and the engine started perfectly and I was able to time it in minutes and at the original distributor position. My conclusion is the parts are for a different car, at least the trigger collar is, OR there is a defect in the parts.
