Permatex 24163 Surface Prep Activator for Anaerobics, 4.5 oz., 4.5 Ounce
This permatex cleaner is required/specified by Auto manufacturers before using thread sealers or other gasket materials. It makes a big difference and is designed to help other materials dry fast in the winter or when cold. Which means no leaks or waiting for 72 hours to pressure system.

This works great but you better work fast. I use it to set up red lock tite. I have a threaded 1.5″ OD piece that goes into a tube. Problem is it causes the lock tite to set before you get it cranked down. Would be nice if it was a liquid applied with a q tip and not a spray which goes every where.

Had a light fairway mower hydraulic tank repaired. Tried teflon paste on the 1 1/4″ threaded strainer bung – leaked soon after filling the tank. Drained the tank and re-sealed the bung using the permatex sealant and the surface prep activator. Been mowing strong for a month and NO leaks. Not even a drip. Also have used on oil pan plugs – no leaks. Wish I would of known about this stuff a LONG time ago. Highly recommend.

This product has some pros and cons…Pro: it not only works with the anaerobic sealer it was designed for, it also increases Permatex’s Threadlocker compounds by up to 50%! Con: the price; with shipping, this stuff is over $22 for a 4 oz. can. It is also a hard item to find in auto parts stores. But after using the compound with the anaerobic sealer to fix a stripped water pump bolt (which I can say it’s STILL holding), I can confidently say it’s BETTER than advertised! Would I buy it again? Most definitely!

When the nozzle was pushed down it sprayed but also leaked out the side of the nozzle stem creating a mess and a lot of waste. At nearly 20 bucks a can it’s annoying if half the liquid is waste

Five stars because it works. Sealed cheap chinese hydraulic fittings and hoses on my loader tractor using this when nothing else worked. I used the Anaerobic Hydraulic and Pneumatic sealant with this and it worked like a charm. I don’t mind paying for things that do what they say, and solve my problems. This qualifies on both counts.
