This is the way to go if you have an older truck. I attempted to install the internals into the existing bypass, but there was enough corrosion on the existing valve that it would not come apart. This, however, bolted right on in less than 10 minutes. The results are good; transmission operating temperatures have gone down from around 190 to a consistent 130.
The addition of the magnetic bolt is nice. I haven’t observed any metal shavings in the fluid, but if there are, this will capture them. Great product, easy install, and a great value in my opinion.

This is a solid unit, PPE is a great company as I’ve used their products on my 20 Ranger , so far so good quality looks great. 1 thing i would add is I had trial and error due to the instructions not stating take the o rings off the OEM so I had to learn the hard way. But it’s all good now. OEM was at 200 degrees and this PPE one I’m at 150 degrees a 50 degrees difference at idle and 70 degree difference at highway speeds. I out a 4 star because not stating to remove OEM I rings and place them on the PPE.

It definitely works. My transmission fluid used to always be around 180-190 degrees.
Installed the PPE Bypass Valve about a week ago, and my truck hasn’t went over 130° while idling and stays about 110° on the highway. It’s been cold in Ohio, so I imagine it will run a little warmer in the summer time, but it definitely works great.
Installation wasn’t bad, having the 4×4 makes it a little more of a hassle. Big hands don’t make it any easier also.

It works perfectly and easy to install

Quality built product but did not come with gasket and is only open port so transmission never gets to proper operating temp
Good product but wrong for me

This a great product. Came quickly and is made in the USA. Dropped my transmission temperature by 45/50 degrees. I got transmission filter changed at the same time as bypass installation.
Would highly recommend..

Valve bolted on with zero problems, and do this while the engine and transmission cold! I recommend parking your front wheels on ramps to keep minimum fluid loss during replacement. This valve by PPE only comes with valve, no gaskets, or O-rings so be mindful when removing OEM to keep these for aftermarket bypass valve. I have yet to see how this preforms, but most reviews and research shows this is a quality product.
