  1. Amazon Customer

Optima contradicts it’s own policy on warranty. Amazon is an authorized reseller, but Optima says it’s not, and also says you can’t register the battery anywhere else except in the US. Do not buy Optima batteries, there’s no back end support, it’s all smoke and mirrors.

I rarely write reviews but feel I need to put something on for this battery. I had a five year old battery in my fishing truck. I drive the truck about once a week but noticed that on cold days after sitting a week it would need to sometimes be jump started. I had a local major auto parts store test the battery (and charging system) and it said replace the battery

I decided to order the Optima battery from Amazon and made a huge and very expensive mistake. I figured it would be more durable for the application. The battery was fine for a while but I had the truck at a shop for a few weeks waiting on parts. After that, the battery wouldn’t hold a charge for an entire week without a jump.

I contacted Optima who told me to discharge and recharge to de-sulfate the battery. I did that and left it on a charger or tender regularly. If I had to jump start it, I could drive it around and it would restart no problem. Once I left it a few days, it would need to be jumped or charged. Mind you , my 5 year old Walmart battery I replaced with the Optima performed better.

Finally today, I had to jump the truck and drove it at highway speeds for over an hours. I parked it for 30 minutes and it needed a jump. All the while the alternator was charging fine and there were no issues. I took it to the same large auto parts store and the test showed the battery was bad. I bought a new, non-optima battery and got rid of this awful thing. When talking with the parts person, she informed me she had a yellow top Optima that wouldn’t hold a charge if her car sat a week as well but her Walmart special (not the store she works in) was fine sitting for weeks on end. I believed that Optima batteries are overpriced, and overhyped. This was my first and last one. Notwithstanding the fact that once contacted, Optima said I would have to go through Amazon for a return. I just ate the cost of the battery.

Lessons learned: 1. Don’t get an Optima battery. 2. If you purchase an Optima battery, buy it IN A STORE. Optima doesn’t care to assist in replacing their crappy product they just want the seller to deal with it. Save your money, get a regular battery. Support your local auto parts store.

Great battery! It looks like the picture. Since the pandemic, I had already gone through one new battery before buying this one over a year ago. Simply because I don’t drive as much. Now, it keeps a charge and my car starts with no problem. Hopefully I didn’t jinx myself there. No power drains either. Highly recommend it and worth the extra $$$ over your average battery.

Meilleur Batterie AGM sur le marché

Évidemment je l’ai fait charger à 100% avec un chargeur intelligent car la batterie ne l’était pas sûrement à cause qu’elle était stocké dans l’entrepôt

I liked the speed in which it was delivered, I hope it lasts a long time, I don’t want to go though all this again, time will tell.

  6. S.Y. Bolduc

    Best battery for Canadian winters.

Fits on my Nissan Frontier 2016 Pro 4 x . Shorter than the original height though. You can make a spacer underneath to match. Great product!

This battery is a great OEM replacement for my 2006 Mazda RX8. It provides plenty of power to the vehicle for starting, etc. The battery was simple to install using the following steps:

-Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the terminal clamp on the negative terminal
    -disconnect the negative terminal
-Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the terminal clamp on the positive terminal
    -disconnect the positive terminal
-Take the old battery out of the compartment it is in and replace it with this new one
-connect and tighten the clamp for the positive terminal
-connect and tighten the clamp for the negative terminal

One thing about this battery that was a bit of a negative was that it was shorter than the OE Mazda battery. This meant I needed to prop the battery up a little bit so the terminal clamps could be properly fastened. I simply used the cover that came on this battery and put it underneath the battery to give a 1-2inch increase in height allowing the clamps to clear the sides of the battery well.

    Pros:
    *Good cranking power
    *Everything power-wise runs well

    Cons:
*A little short for the stock battery well(-1/4 a star) However this can be fixed by using the terminal cover that came with the battery and placing it underneath the battery inside of the well.

    Additional Considerations:
Make sure you have a wire brush and some terminal cleaner to clean the clamps. Also some kind of electrical-conducting gel may be good to apply when installing the battery.

Overall: 4.75/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, 5 stars

If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

The battery itself is awesome. Nice strong battery, gets your car started without hesitation. Seriously, I’ve never had a battery this good before.
The complaint I have about this battery is that the posts are too small and are in an awkward position. If you look at the picture, the posts are toward the front, which would be great. The reality with the one I got was they were toward the back and I had to get cable extenders to get my clamps to the posts. reversing the cabling was not an option. I had to buy shims and different clamps to get this to fit properly. It really does look nice, especially if paired with a black retainer bracket.
